Yeah I thought so too, used the Lighten effect, actually it just stayed that way after I experimented with some text effects. I might change it, if I'm not lazy ^^

Remove the lens flare, it's completely unnecessary. Maybe stroke the text (any color on the same color background will look terrible without a stroke).

Thats easy, on the bottom right, where the layers ar displayed, click on the "add a leyer style" icon (looks like an "f"), then click on stroke & play with the settings

I personally think there are too many shades of green and the lens flare contradicts your focal point. With that kind of stock you should emphasize it's effects, maybe brush in a certain direction to give it more of a flow?
