Hey guys =o long time no seen...
I'm here to ask for your help. I'll be getting into the gaming/movie industry soon and I need a pc that can handle that.

My current one is not able to do **** anymore =[
I want a PC that can also run the latest games on more than medium settings.

I'm not really updated with the hardware stuff so I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks <3.

Hey man.

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but this is my rig. If I remember correctly, I'm able to run Crysis on at least Medium, maybe a little higher. Warhammer Online on max, Oblivion on max, and Mass Effect on max. I'm sure I'm able to run other games on max settings, but these are the only ones that I could think of.

Thanks. I'm looking for something a bit stronger though.
I know I want 4GB RAM DDR2, maybe Geforce GTX 280 1GB... I heard it was good.
x2 HDD 500GB 7200RPM or something like that. =o

MOBO: Gigabyte x48-DQ6
RAM: Corsair Dominator 2x 2GB @1066
HDD: 500GB
CPU: Intel 2.83 Quadcore Q9550 w/ Custom Zalman 9700LED Heatsink
PSU: Corsair 620w
GFX: Radeon HD4870 1GB
CASE: antec 900

Buy that, there's no game I can't play real smooth like. Maya runs nice too.

The amount of money you wanna spend will play a big role in what type of system you'll get, so how much do you want to spend?

with that we should be able offer better suggestions.

It wont be relevant because I'm not paying in USD or EUR.
But anyways, this is what I compiled so far:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83GHz 12Mb 1333MHz BOX
MOBO: ASUS P5ND 750I SLI
RAM: G.skill DDR2 4096MB 1066MHZ PI CL5-5-5-15
GFX: Point-of-View nVidia GeForce GTX280 1024MB PCIe
HDD: Samsung 640GB HD642JJ HDD - SATA II 7200rpm 16MB x2

Not exactly sure if I chose the right MOBO, I'll have to look around a bit more.
Still missing a PSU (probably 700w) and a good Case. Some cooling too.
I'm leaving the option for 8GB RAM and a second GFX card open, so if I'll need it in the future, it's always possible.

Any thoughts? =o

Like I said, I'm leaving the option for a second GFX card for later. It's always possible to add.
And why would I need a blu-ray drive? XD

The system you built looks fine. The Mobo seems to only support to up to 800Mhz DDR2 though.
I'd go for an ASUS P5N-T Deluxe or one of the (though more expensive) striker II boards.

Also make sure your PSU could potetially supply 2 GTX 280s if you want to go SLI later on.

The system madman suggested seems way too expensive.

Thank you kam. That's exactly what I wanted/needed to hear.
I'll rearrange the spec again and post an update soon.

If he's getting into games and movie stuff, he should get a quadcore or even a 2x quad setup for rendering little bit's.

GFX card is mostly irrelevant in 3d work, unless you are gonna grab a quadro :p

Indeed, wheres_.
I could get a quadro but I thought about it a little and I don't want to limit myself to work only. It's also the reason why I wont be getting more than 4GB RAM. I don't think I can afford moving to a 64bit system yet.

Plus, I also want to play games. I haven't played PC games for years cause my current setup sucks badly.

So I don't know if I should get a quadro yet. I do know that in rendering most of the resources are drawn from the CPU and rarely the RAM.

Basically, I'm also thinking about ditching the SLI MOBO...
My teacher in college said it's really not nessesary at the time being so it's just a waste.

What do you guys think? =o
