Okay, I decided to get into mapping, so I followed DJ Ready's tutorial. But when I create a point entity as explained in the tutorial, it seems to be out of place.

See? In DJ's tutorial it's on those three lines and the background is blue. Something is wrong.

The background can be white if you set it to. Its under options > 3D views > select background color.

As for the entity. It spowns where you tell it to. If you just click in the top view you make it ignore the hight.

So use the side views to adjust hight.

Thats no problems. Wait till you get to compiling errors XD

Are you absolutly 100% positivly sure that all the views were centerd.

The point where the green lines meet is the center in hight in the side views. So make sure you have it centerd over there to.

Thanx, Grega. I fixed it now. I just thought that if I move it in one view it will move in all. So I only centered one view.

Thought so.

The views are as folows (default)

top left - 3D view
top right - topdown view
bottom left - front view
bottom right - side view

It moves in all the views. But you have to understand that the views themselvs (exept 3D view ofcourse) are all only 2D

So the best view to adjust the position is the topdown view. And using the side/front view you can adjust the hight.

Click on the place where it says camera in the 3D view.

And select textured. You have flat selected ATM.

Okay, I did some mapping, and made a simple map just to see if it works. But when I try to run it, it says "map change failed, not found on server."

I did. I exported the map in the MAP format, then I used HLCC to compile it into BSP. I put the BSP file in my maps folder, run it normaly thru esf, but when I try to load it it says "map change failed. Not found on server."
