Need help with installing the game

I downloaded ESF v1.2.3, but it won't work when I try and play it.
The icon loads counter-strike instead.
I figure it's cause I downloaded Counter-strike through steam rather than buying the CD, but the downloaded version has the hl.exe file the user manual said I would need.

It's regular CS, just downloaded from steam.

Can you download HL to?

If you can than ther should be no problem. If you cant than you have a problem ^^

Guess I'll have to buy myself a copy of HL. Which shouldn't be a problem since both games look pretty cool.

well are you using a retail version of cs
or do you have steam
when you do have CS on steam, you can just double click half-life and it will download for free ( legaly )
