You are pretty safe if you get an Asus or a MSI board, which brand are you going? Intel, AMD?

go get a dfi board if you get an AMD setup. On the other hand for intel (aka the evil blue snake) then get an asus board.

AMD ftw. get 64-bit series.

abit for life o/ (and unlike those asus fools, they give you the sata driver disk so you can install windows.....)

abit av8 for agp (i have this one)
abit ax8 for pci express (my friend bought it on my recommendation)

the "3rd eye" thing is cool too, no need for silly hardware monitor software (and it makes for endless wang jokes on irc)

Dual SLI ...for me. I lke it. I recommend it. Asus a8n-sli.
