dude, organize your thoughts, write them all in one post, it will make the mods job easyer, and get them less frustrated. if you feel you need to add something , then edit your last post. but i dont think double posting is allowed here...especially triple

bleh the triangles IS the skeleton.

1.) Go to Tools> Half life> Decompile HL MDL
2.) Select the model you want to decompile
3.) Uncheck skeleton, qc, and sequence
4.) Go to file> import> smd file

boom. now if you want to see the texture, just right click in perspective view and then click texture. thats all to it.

ok just import the smd with everything in it then thats the model.
Youir just getting confused cuz its showing the skeleton.like Ice Man said go to the joints tab. "upper right corner of the screen." look under that menu it should have a "show skeleton" option in there. un-check it and u should be straight. Then that is you model. By the way triangles = model! *

if you want me to hate you, then you should edit models

if you want me to respect you, then you should model from scratch (even if it sux, i will still respect you)

Well i agree with Bolteh there , besides you l do your self worce if you l start editing , than you l be learning how to model from scratch harder , cause you might find editing easyer and might not get away from it , well you decision...

Everyone has gotta start somewhere, i'm sure most people do start off with edits to get a feel for modelling/gfx programs (i know i did)

I'm not saying go start editting and releasing your edits (i too have a problem with people who leave it at that and do not move past that phase) but fiddling about with models/skins for your own use is imo a good way too start.

model editors have no respect nowadays because latley the model edits that came out were pure crap and no effort was put into them, some model edits or hackjobs can be pretty good like ones ive seen from counter strike or the specialists (i myself being a fan of spastic child's hackjobs), but for ESF there are barley if any decent edits or hackjobs

Indeed thats why i say if u gonna do 'em then keep them to yourself while you learning teh basics and then start your own work (completely your own mind you) when you know whats going on.

Yeah Bolteh, go ahead and scare all starting-modelers away with your hatred...
I mean, come on, you post in almost every editing thread "I hate editors", again and again. And you don't say it in a very kind way, either. Perhaps don't try to enforce (your posts sound like "YOU SHALL NOT EDIT ON THESE FORUMS") your opinion, but say it more nicely, like an advice.
BTW: Editing is a good start before going into from-scratch-modeling, that's why you also scare away the editors who will start from-scratch-modeling later. You are just rude :(

Editing is the nicer word for ripping, no one likes rippers so don't make us hate you ;)

serious, its ok to have a look at some decent models to see how they are structured and to see how the polys were placed but i would reccomend not to touch a model someone else. decompile some esf models, look how they were made to get the feeling (im NOT saying COPY them !!) and have a few tries. after a short amount of models (took me 3 models) youll get the flow and every following model will be pure fun to make. it might be hard at the beginning, but it's worth it in the end ;)

If someone edits a model the first time, it is unlikely he knows about ripping, so you shouldn't be very angry with him, only if he keeps up ripping. You can ask the author if you can release the model. But in my view Bolteh's words are not expressing this, they just hurt if you are a starting editor/modeler and aren't informative at all. In no word he mentions the ripping issues, he gives no advices, he just expresses his hatred as if it was a general rule...

While Bolts comments may be a bit shall we say intimidating, i don't blame him cuz of all the crap rippers posing as model editors have caused in the past.

However i believe even he has done at least one model edit that i can recall: http://esf-world.com/download.php?file_id=104 even though nowadays his work seems to be exclusively his own (*remembers a certain gotenks model from a while back*)
