I decided to practice modelling today, so I got MilkShape 3D and tried making a guitar for practice. I took a screenshot from FLCL as a ref, put down vertexes and faces, and the result is this:

Since its flat, I select all the faces next, and proceed to extrude. And here's where it goes wrong:

The surface is missing, resulting in the guitar being hollow. How do I fix this??

Select everything and press: CTRL+SHIFT+F.
Or: Select everything and click FACE-->Reverse Vertex Order

Still hollow... the inside's black now.
Select the inside and press again CTRL+SHIFT+F

BTW, the inside have to be normally "black"... because the model must be hollow inside... Use the Faces tool to fill the hole you will have there

I hope you know what i mean ;/

Hmmmmm.... I was thinking though... before extruding, I could copy the flat guitar, extrude it, and put the flat guitar on the extruded guitar to fill the hole. But how do you connect the flat guitar to the extruded guitar?

hmmmm use this method:

you have made the flat quitar. Copy it and mirror it TOP<-->Buttom.
Now fill the connection with the Face tool like that:

Eerrrrr.... you meant mirror front-back, right?

Damn... now I gotta make all those faces by myself after all.

It depends on the position of your guitar
And making this faces isn´t that hard ^_^

(sigh) Well, after the tricky job of making faces everywhere, here's the finished guitar:

Only thing left is to add the knobs at the top and the propellor on the back. And skin it.

Thanks for your help, Kreshi.

Why should I do Ctrl-W? Everything's already connected.

And I was gonna add the knobs to the headstock (top of the guitar), but I was wondering about something... do I have to physically connect them to the guitar, or can I leave them floating next to it?

Sorry for double posting, but I need help on this:

Everytime I try to assign a skin to my model in Milkshape, it simply gets one color instead of the skin. What to do??

Look at your join date/post count. You know that double posting is against the rules AND that sorry is not an excuse. If you really need to add something edit your previous posts.

Warning for double posting. :warning:

Already did that... it still shows up as only one color.

EDIT: Never mind, solved.

Here's a quick update:

Added the propellor on the back.
