Well i have a crappy radio shack headset, which is sorta broken but not really, lets look at a little damage assessment:

both ear sockets unhinged: check
Both ears work: check
Mic not working: Check (and serveral more checks)

ive had this headset for at least a year, but since it broke i havnt used it...but now that im runnin vista i want to be able to talk

i plug in the mic to the corrosponding plug, but when i talk, nothing... also i dont think my computer recognizes that the microphone is in...

could someone help? or no what the problem is

Did you check your volume control panel to see if "Microphone" isn't muted?

Go into your volume control panel, click on "Options" then click on "Properties". A new window should pop up that looks like this:

Make sure the radial button next to "Recording" in the middle screen is selected and that everything in the bottom box is checked. Once that's done, click on "Ok". Now, the volume control panel should change to show the recording control panel. Look for "Microphone" and check the "Select" box.

Windows Vista should still have the volume controller. Either you can access it through the taskbar by double clicking on the speaker icon near the clock or by accessing it through the control panel.

ive narrowed down the problem..and it's deffiently vista

When you play battlefield 2 in vista, you have to be administrator, and even if you're logged in as admin, you have to right click battilefield 2, and "run as administrater" so i was testing my teamspeak, and when i didnt run it as admin, they could hear me, but as soon as i did it as an admin...they couldnt

-sigh-
