MDL error

when ever i open an MDL file for ESF and all half life crap it always comes up with an error like this archive is ethier damaged or is an unknow format but for like jedi knight i can open them so.. do any of you ppl know how to fix it if you do plz post thanks

What exactly are you using to open the model file? Please provide more information. If you just want to view the model alongwith it's skin and animations, I would recommend HLMV.

yea i got that but i what to open it in 3DS studio max 6 and i cant open it from the MDL file cani?
