I played Path of Neo and despite some graphical flaws I was actually really happy with it. You have to force through the first 5 levels or so, but the combat is great and if you set the controls to 'Gamma' it plays really well and the combat is fun, especially later in the game when you earn tons of moves. Some of the lighting is amazing, too, for what it's worth. I set the lighting variable as low as it went because the framerate has some horribly severe chokes in some places, but with the lighting set low the game still looks decent and runs a lot better. I recommend any matrix fan give it at least a rent or a single playthrough. Once I got the controls down it was really fun to fight six or eight people, and later in the game being The One with all the awesome powers (bullet stopping, flight) was totally fun. Also, the game has a lot of story elements (including an alternate ending to Revolutions) such as stuff that went on between the first and second movies. Definitely worth checking out if you're a matrix fan, as it finally gives us what we wanted--awesome matrix combat. Albeit poorly presented. But it's still decent, worth at least a rent.

It's probly the first game in a long time I've played where gameplay heavily outweighs graphics. Though that's not saying much because the graphics are pretty bad by todays standards.

I'm not very far in the game, I just saved Morpheus from the agents and became "The One". So I can't really say much. But the game does seem to have alot of little flaws that should have been ironed out... The worst imo is the targeting system. It just doesn't flow and feels slow. If I kill someone, why not target the next enemy instead of staying locked onto a dead body? Aswell, the body dissapears and i'm still locked onto the ground for some reason? That should have been an easy fix...

The camera is horrible, that caused me a few deaths so far. Slowing down time is useless if you're trying to shoot a moving enemy, is everyone an agent? It's hard to tell sometimes. And maybe it's just me, but doesn't Neo run a little slow? I mean... i'm no Olympian, but c'mon, my granpa moves faster than that.

But all the things that ruin this great game aside, it's just so fun killing so many people at the same time. And the starting of the game with all the swordplay and kung-fu is just so enjoyable. It's definitely worth checking out. If you're a hardcore fan of the movies, you might wanna stay away from it as it doesn't follow the movies very closely. But to everyone else, it's probly the best Matrix game we're gonna have for a long while.

lol the graphic isnt that bad dude..
it has some new features like normal mapping clothe physic etc
it only looks not so good cause the engine is setting for low poly if they models would have more polys there would be lagging like hell at the level where you have to fight with all those smiths :)

i am already finished it and i have to say the last level sucks *g*

I didn't really have a lot of hope for it anyway.

Which systems is this for? I might give it a spin once it hits the budget bin.

Honestly, the game is really great. I finished the game yesterday, and let me tell you something. On the end of the game, is hillarious. You just have to see it. The moves are great once you learn them as said above. The more levels you beat, the more moves / combo's you get, and when you finished the game and you mostly got the bonus stuff, you can unlock things in the EXTRA menu.

Xbox, PS2 and PC. If you own either of the first two, get it for them. The PC version has worse graphics, and Ive heard that its easier with analog controls.

Main gripes: The camera sucks ass at times and holy **** are the graphics crappy. If I set the setting (thats right, theres 1 setting for detail) higher than 7, it wont render anything. Everything looks, well, muddy would be the best word. Ill get a screenshot tomorrow, but they are pretty bad. The models are way behind the times too. I hadnt seen 'neck wrap', as I call it, in ages.

The combat is awesome. This game is what Enter the Matrix should have been. The first time I saw Neo perform a combo on three guys at once I was stunned. He jumps, kicks out to both sides and punches a guy in front of him. This is the finisher to the combo after hes done throttling them.

For each combo you can do with your hands, theres one you can do with a melee weapon. The level 3 weapon strip on a guy with a sword actually takes the sword from him, stabs his friend and then slashes the guy who had the sword. If ever there was a game that deserved some FRAPS demos, this is it.

I just finished killing the Mervs goons, one of my fav. scenes from the trilogy. It made for a pretty awesome fight.

if you set renderdetails on 7 you need a graphiccard with shader 3 and if you dont have a shader 3 card you will only see a black screen lol ^^

I dislike tinkering around with my PC just to get a game to run properly, so I'll probably be getting it for PS2 if and when I actually do.

I've probably played worse games.

How do the graphics stack up against HL1 graphics?

I don't have the computer to run stuff like FarCry, HL2 etc. At least not on high detail. HL2 was playable with everything on low. :p

Therefore, I'm satisfied with anything that's equal or better to HL1's graphics, since I play ESF and The Specialists regularly.

The graphics are better than hl1, but...not THAT much better, dont expect FEAR or HL2 graphics, the models look...well decent but low quality...I mean, they dont look that bad but they dont have modelled eyes, but skinned ones. Also, models look like plastic and on my pc I cant even get 1280x1024 working in the game (it says 1280x1024 but it looks like 1024x786(blurry and all)) The fighting is GODLIKE, you actually never get boring seeing the same combo over and over again, because each time it looks somewhat different, one time you smash someone in the face, they fly back right trough a window, and the other time they smash into a wall and fall down...you really feel powerfull :D

I have it for PC.

The graphics are terrible -.- Is it me? Or do things look... "blurry"?

Anywho, god damn the fighting is cool! Like especially when you're in that training compound and you have to fight those wave of guys. And you get the bow. Man you can do a **** load of cool things. But it's a tad easy for a game (then again you are Neo) I'm playing it on hard. You get to choose how hard it is based on skill (which is cool). I was like "wtf, you start off with all these powers?!?!" turns out it was a "how good you are" thing. So I chose hard. What are you playing it on? I can't fly yet or anything, I have to save Morpheus right now.

::EDIT::
Running up people and kicking them in face sending them flying and tumbling along the ground, punching people in the chest and ending it with an incredibly strong kick, sending them flying a good 20 feet, taking a bowstaff and pushing one end into someones face, taking a katana, doing some kick ass slowmotion flips, and stabing them in the check from behind you, taking someone's gun from behind them, and shooting them in the back, what more could you want?

I'll record some of my fights with FRAPS, you will be so impressed i garantee you'll buy it if you haven't already :)

The game is pretty fun. There are certainly some cool moments in it, but I made the mistake of buying the game instead of renting it. The game didn't take me too long to complete (although it's longer than most games these days) and the lack of decent unlockables don't help the replay value. In it's defence though, the gameplay really can be fun. You can pull off some insane moves, and fighting multiple opponents feels awesome. The only other complaints I'd have are A) The frame rate. I bought the Xbox version and for the most part the frame rate was between low and ridiculous. B) The lack of the original film music. The lobby and chateau etc just don't feel the same without the original film music. Oh, and the targeting system is ridiculously poor.

The game is certainly worth a rent. If only they fixed the frame rate problems, and had some semi decent unlockables I'd say it was even worth a purchase.

Im loving this game. The beginning was boring as hell, but once I got passed all of the training levels the game certainly took a turn for the better. Few things though:

A) Guns. Theres no point in using them unless you're using the grenade launcher to destroy a helicopter or if you're on that training level. When people are shooting at me I either wall run, use that awesome anti-gravity jump to jump past everyone, or I just keep using the dodge button to twirl and flip towards the enemies.

B) Agents. I know Neo is the one and everything, but they aren't very hard. Fighting 3 at the same time is enjoyable and I find myself replaying the same stage just so I can do so but it would be a bit more fun if they were smarter and/or stronger.

C) Graphics. They're meh at best (although I have to admit the console version has MUCH better graphics). Still, they could have at least brought it up to par with Enter the Matrix (although that might lower fps). Smith looks like a monster when he grimaces...

As for the fighting, its just damn good. Lots of different combos and fighting numerous opponents using the staff, sword, and kung fu is a lot of fun. Im still memorizing some of the combinations (like that air kill thing that I never remember to use). Although I said the Agents should have been made smarter or stronger, they have still managed to surprise me. In the level where I had to find and save Niobe I had killed 2 of the 3 Agents. Somehow I was low on health so I figured I would jump down to the lower level and grab a med kit. So I jump up and the most amazing thing happened. Bullet time was suddenly activated, the agent ran towards the wall and jumped off followed by him tackling me all the way to the lower level. Unfortunately, he died from the fall so I couldnt continue an already awesome battle =/.

Some of the combinations are crazy. During a mission I was fighting a few swat guys and I was doing that awesome punch combo (Neo punches the guy like 10 times in various parts of his chest followed by one last punch to the face which knocks the enemy away) when all of a sudden Neo grabbed the swat guy, flew up into the air, threw him down, and landed on his face. As soon as I saw that I knew once I mastered the system I would be able to do some crazy ****.

Anywho, I usually acquire games in a less than legal way, but after playing it I went out and bought it for the PS2. Best 50 bucks I've spent in a long time. This just goes to show you that a game doesnt have to look pretty to be awesome (which means there really isnt any point in porting esf to half-life 2 <_<).

Zeo gives Path of Neo a 9 outta 10. The fighting is that damn good.

For those of you who havent seen the PC version and wonder what the complaint about the graphics is, here goes.

Kansas went bye-bye.

I find it hard to imagine that this game could even use shader 3.0 with graphics like this. Ill try to get some cool broadsword impalement pics as soon as I get through this mother****er of a level. Who the hell had the bright idea of putting problem solving levels in a brawler? I just wanna kick some ass, not go running around some 3d maze.

Agreed with zeo. It's just cool to see you smash a guy 10,000 times at 10,000 RPM, followed by that last slow motion punch sending him through they air. Problem is that you don't see their health go away :(

The bowstaff is my favorite weapon so far, you can smash these two guys, let go of the staff, kick them both in the face, the bow falls to the ground, but you kick it back up with your feet, and then smash one in the face, then other other. I really need to get a fraps video going. I'll update as soon as I make it. And if you could give me somewhere to host it that'd be cool :)

Those graphics don't look bad at all, honestly. Not compared to the PS2, at least. And that aside--the other complaints I've heard (like targeting, camera, etc) don't seem to have ever been a problem for me, honestly.

The only problem I've had when it came to targetting and the camera angle was when I was fighting Ghost on the stage (Reloaded was being played in the background). I had to corner Ghost in order to land any hits because he kept moving around so damn much. I had difficulty lining myself up with him.

The problem with the pc's graphics is if you try to put it on max quality, some of the characters and maps are missing textures. Most of us have to lower it to around 7 or 8 in order to prevent that from happening. This also keeps us from playing the game with the best graphics possible.

The PS2 version has pretty good graphics =/. Im not an avid console gamer so Im basing that on the last game I bought (Mercenaries), which looked just fine.

Although I hate Atari with a passion, I gotta admit they did good by us this time. Im really enjoying this game. I just finished the Burly Brawl and although it slowed down here and there, it was lots of fun. Thanks to that stage, Im able to fight multiple enemies without taking much damage.

I don't know about you but as i progress through the game, the graphics seem to get better. Except for that chinese healer dude, he sucks. But anyway, I was fighting the agents in the church, and, I don't know if it was the lighting or not, but Neo looked bad ass!
