Basically, I need to know the size of the image that's supposed to be printed on the front and back of an XL shirt. In inches, cm, mm, pixels, doesn't even matter. Does anyone know the correct measures?

There are no correct measures, as every shirt manufacturer makes them differently by different models, you should ask where you want to print the shirt, whats the biggest size they can print it for you, usually it doesn't exceed the a4 format, which is a pretty cheap solution, but if you want to go gangsta and crazy, its gonna cost you a lot more.

Usually though you should have the image in vector format. Thats the best since it allows for perfect scaling.

As Grega said, vector's are usually used for T-shirts. You'll have no problems with size then, since they are infinitely scalable.
