I want everyone here to just think about something. In this world today, everybody's trying to make money. Okay, that's fine.

Why are we trying to get money though? Well to get the things we want, like houses, cars, games, books, etc. Things that people make. People make these things to make money, so they can buy the same **** that you want. Listen, I want you to see what I'm saying here. Who the **** knows, that 50 million years ago, that humans lived in caves, and women wore ****ing wooden bras? Do you really think that happened? Do you think 800 million years ago humans wanted to get famous to make money? To buy some **** that another human made?

Think it about it now. What if technology was never discovered. What if we didn't have computers and televisions and cars and ****. I don't mean that kind of technology alone either, I mean spoons, clothes, pencils, boxes. All of those things are a sense of technology. Have you ever sat down, and thought about what the **** you want to do with your life? Even one time?

Why do people want to graduate from school? To get a good job right? Make the paper right? Okay.. What do we need cars for? To drive us to places we want to go. Like grocery stores, other states etc. What if the world today was to just live on rocks and trees and ****. Back then, all humans wanted to do was to survive, eat, drink water, live . Today people are worried about getting some pussy or some ****. Watching ****ing television, of other people who dedicate there time to give other people something to do, so they can get a lot of money, to do the same **** we do.

Do you want to graduate from college, to get a job and work the rest of your life? Do you want to sit on your ass, and watch You Tube videos all day? Or do you want to make some damn money? Which one? Do you want to spend the rest of life, trying to gain posts in some forum? Do you want to gain popularity of people you haven't seen more than your mother's face?

No, real talk, I want you to think about this.

Sit down in a chair, and think.

I want you to tell me personally if this makes any sense.

We are all striving to get an object, this thing that doesn't weigh more then a ****ing feather. Yes, the dollar. People in this world want things that people make.

Think about this.

This has nothing to do with this forum, I'm not upset, hey I'm cool.

But right now, I just want to share this thought that popped in my mind.

Why? What is the meaning of this world? This life?

The meaning of life is whatever you decide it is. The things you stated are nothing more than material objects that help us get to where we want to go and to achieve the things we want to achieve.

I believe everyone was put on this world for a reason. What that reason is could be up to you, but I think fate and faith has a lot to do about it. If you think this world is all about money there's something twisted in your head.

Well that's just the way human life has evolved.

Everything has an objective or goal, or else it is left without a purpose. Right now? I'm making my movie. Why? It brings me and others joy. It will also go in my college portfolio. The objectives: finish the movie, entertain people, and prepare for the future.

The meaning of life isn't a concrete description. The meaning of life is relative to a person's situation. And sometimes, they feel they have lost the meaning of life and need to look for it. For animals it is surviving, but humans are somewhat different. Surviving in the basic need, then things such as entertainment, pleasure and success come into play.

So that dollar in the wallet? That is just a medium to which we can obtain the things we want. To buy a video game console for entertainment. New clothes because how you look pleases you.

Why would someone work for the rest of their life? Maybe they are trying to get to the highest position in the job, become rich, or just want to ride their life out and see what it has to offer.

Like I said, there is so concrete purpose of life. That is far beyond human comprehension. But what do know, is that we have developed things that we see fit to obtain, maintain, or disband, and the process of all those objectives is why we live our lives.

This is why I wanna be an artist. Creation is the be and end all of life, as long as I can create something and share it with others I'm happy with my station in life.

Sadly though, you do need money. That is how a society based on trade of many different types of goods/products evolves, currency is inevitable.

It's my personal opinion that men created technology/money/art/theories/what have you, because a feeling of inadequacy with their role in life, while women can create life inside them and leave a child behind to live on men can't, and so wish to leave something to the world in another fashion. It's kind of hard to elaborate, but hopefully you get what I mean.

Money is a just a measure of your contribution to society, however, with so many things that earn money/lose money, it isn't a real representative of your worth.

creation is the be all and end all of life... for YOU.

if you're talking about procreation, that's a different matter.

some people have the urge to be the strongest, to be the alpha. which is, a natural part of life. look at animals everywhere in the world and you see it, it's not just humans that strive for a better life, or an easier existance.

humans however, are the only ones capable of catagorising things into "greed" and "envy". so in a sense, while it is natural for us to want an easier life, for us to want to be the alpha. it must also be natural to covet. you can't want to be better than someone else without coveting them.
because of our drive to simplify our lives, we've invented many things, harnassing fire during the stoneage, the invention of the wheel... your entire argument about people millions of years ago not wanting an easier life, is blown away by those things alone. it's what we, and all other life have always done... tried to extend our lives and make things easier for ourselves.

money is just the CURRENT way of doing it. while we're the only species at the moment that uses money, i doubt we're the only species that sees value in something. and i'm sure primates can understand what a trade is, and how it functions to better their lives.

when you want something someone else has, you have to give them something they want for you to have it. depending on how much they want that item too, will give you a guideline on how much you have to pay. whether it's a monkey who has a stick but wants to play with a vine, or a man who has money but would rather have a computer, the same principals apply.

food for thought...

I meant creation in all senses of the word, from having babies to creating a new scientific theory. It's just my belief that humans try to better their own world to become more habitable for future life, males aren't physically able to create future life though, and therefore strive to better the tools and world around them instead.

It's all about what you want most in the world. Back when technology didn't exist, simply surviving, or heck, even living healthily would probably be high on someone's agenda. The meaning of life? Well, my answer would get religious. I'll leave that one alone.

Me, I care very little for money. I only want to have money because I NEED it. Or heck, if I get enough to purchase "ThinkingPArticles 2.5" I won't hesitate the grab that one, as it aids my artwork. I'm with Davidskiwan on this one. Little else gives me pleasure and fulfills me more than to make something out of nothing. Whether it's drawing out a character, writing a story that's been flooding my imagination or making something in 3D Studio Max, I just love to look back and say "I did this".

Of course, my work being appreciated by others is also something that rbings me happiness. I love seeing people enjoy what I make, and becoming a 3D animator offers some real potential in that area. Heck, I don't care if I'm not going to be addressed directly, if anything, indirect praise is better than it being said to my face.

When it comes down to it, all I want out of a job is my own satisfaction. If you can make a career out of what you love, then you're the happiest person alive. Screw the sallary; do what you love and the money will come.

As far as procreation, heck, may seem a bit early to be thinking it, but I wouldn't mind bringing someone up in this world, teaching them right and wrong, seeing them beat peer-pressure outright and taking the straight and narrow...

But I'm getting ahead of myself. If material posessions are your main concern, then you need to rethink your life. The only material posession that I own that I wouldn't leave in the house during a fire would be my CPU, just since I need it to do what I love.

I had a talk with my Dad a week ago, about "who is god".
I wont tell any details about our speech except if you please for it.
But from what i can tell of what i heard of but still dont believe, is that the moneymaker, Are getting themselfs into a bad life in their next life (yes i believe in it)

My Brother is overacting latly abit, asking me why I actually do artstuff or play games instead of working and Helping other people. My dad is around the Medicine-Electronic stuff, my brother supports him verywell with coding/recoding Programms. I help him aswell, but i dont like to work in this Family Buisness we have.

I told my brother that i actually want to do this stuff in Future of my life, i will have times where i will say i dont want to do this, but i will go back.
My Brother becomes upset and says:" You're working with no use for Other People."

I was like, Okeeeyy.....: "I actually do a use for them, They have fun while playing a game."
And he was like:"yeh, though in the time while those People have their fun they could do usefull thing for other people."

This was actually a stupid phrase. So I said....:"Dont you play games when you're at home? Dont you watch TV when you're tired? dont you feel sick of working when you worked all day? Why wont you leave your fun and do something 'Usefull' for the other people"

afterwards he started to talk some chitchat and bla bla different things not even close to my answer.

So what I'm about...First of those Moneymakers who get alot of money are genuis. They create something everybody wants or needs.
Second, they actually help people to live easier, what comes handy.
Third, everybody needs money to survive and live on.

And Last important one....Do You have a dream? Just because of this reason, you need money.... even if abit, trust me.

I got a Dream, getting my job i want, thats why i go to school and do well there. I want to study, I dont want to hang down like those people in the Underground who dont know what to do.
For that dream, i need money to buy....Pencils,Pens, Paper, all other things you need for school, Pay for the school probably, Pay the University.....all that.

Just simply make money, but dont lose yourself in it.

Do you think 800 million years ago humans wanted to get famous to make money? To buy some **** that another human made?
Yes, the Human-Egoistic always existed. they Simply wanted to have most of the greatest weapons, or even whats new.

Nobody can know the reason for why we live.
My thoughts for it is actually just to achieve the goals we put out to ourselves.
Though without money, everything would be different. People still would propably have just some small villages instead of city's. Everything would propably also be primitive, no television, or radio, etc. Without money, however, there would be a lot less wars.
That's because no countries benefit from it.

Money is good, but people get greedy when getting it more and more, then they want even more out of it.

Interesting thread, by the way.

In my view, my life's purpose is to complete my book. Yes, I do write. College is well and good. But in the end it is only a means to achieve what I need done. Sure, it is not THE means, but it is one.
Money, yeah I've always wondered about that myself. We need money to buy stuff.

Where i come from, I feel there isnt much to life. Its like a factory.
You are born - > Parents force you to study -> You study -> You get a job -> You get married -> You have kids -> You force them to study -> They get a job -> You get them married -> You retire at a ripe old age -> You spend time with your grandchildren -> You die.

Yes, yes well and good.
Now about a few mil years ago.

Neanderthal is born -> Named Ugh. -> Ugh eats ->Ugh sleeps ->Ugh hunts ->Ugh mates -> Ugh no like the scent of female -> Ugh like that female. ->Ugh mate -> Ugh eat ->Ugh hunt ->Ugh like mammoth skin thongs ->Ugh gets killed by Saber tooth tiger
certainly a difference. Yes

However, its all the same end. They all die. They are all born, given fiood to eat, water to drink. Except the difference in the presence or absence of an iPod, PC, Music System, Porn, Metal, Porn and Anime thrown in.

Nice thread.

Have you ever sat down, and thought about what the **** you want to do with your life? Even one time?
Yes. Just about at the end of my first year in university, when I realized that I had spent about $4k on courses that may not have even been necessary. Fortunately for me, most of them fell into the domain of pre-med, which is where I ended up.

I've given serious though to what I want to do with my life, and the only area that seems to mesh appreciably with my beliefs and my character is medicine. That's where I'm headed.

I cannot imagine that kind of scenario. To have that sort of situation, humanity would have to... well, not be humanity. Tool-making is a part of where we, supposedly, came from. Look at the Chimps - even they use simple tools to accomplish their tasks. The broadening of technology is simply an outgrowth of the ability to adapt natural resources into tools. With more experimentation and understanding, those tool-making processes have become highly sophisticated, leading to tools that our predecessors would likely never have imagined.

With the exception of having very contemporary tools, little has changed in our intent. As you quite aptly put it, mf29, we still want to "survive, eat, and drink". We have conveniences, yes, that have markedly changed how we go about that, but I don't think that the fundamentals behind our goals have changed. The means are different, but the end is the same. Like any denizen of the natural world (with the exception of viruses, as there isn't a firm definition of whether or not they're actually "living"), we fall into the characteristic definition of "life" - the ability to grow, respire, and multiply. As such, we will adopt the most effective means necessary to achieve those necessities. Growth and respiration are covered by conveniences in the domain of safety, food production and availability (in developed nations, at least); multiplication is governed by the human sexual drive. All of the more recent "necessities" (more education, electronics, automobiles, etc.) have developed in response to ensuring access to resource that will support the basic tenets of life.

*shrugs* I guess I'm a bit too much of a bio student.

I pretty much don't care about it. I'm just happy with my life and i'm happy as long as others are. I believe, that I live to help everyone at troubled times. That's what my heart tells me to do. :\

It's really very simple for me. My goal in life is to have fun. And I want to do as minimum work as possible to achieve that. As long as it's like that, I don't care about the meaning of life as long as I feel good with it.
