Yes, nowadays people tend to rely on graphics so heavily, that the gameplay is almost literally gone.

It's time to start a thread about oldschool games, that were full of manliness and awesomeness. List your favorite ones.

Oh and i'd count retro so far as 1999 in this case.

-Commander keen (all)
-Ultima
-Duke Nukem 3d
-Starcraft
-Warcraft 1 -2
-Total Annihiliation
-Diablo
-Command and Conquer: Dawn of War to Tiberian Sun ( would have included Red alert 2 , but since it came out in 2000, so..)
-System Shock 2
-Thief
-Wing Commander
-Star Wars : Tie Fighter
-Quake 2
-Unreal Tournament

PlayStation :
-Tekken 3

Genesis
Phantasy Star IV - End of the Millenium (Best.Goddamn.RPG.Ever.)
Shining Force II

PC Windows/DOS
Tyrian (Warblade-like game, one of my favorite. Everyone should try it)
Prince of Persia
Aladin (I had so much fun playing this as a kid)
Commander Keen 4, 5, 6
Starcraft

Those are my absolute favorite. But really, when talking about retro games, they far surpass gaming today. I have nearly no new games at all. Those old games were far better, even if graphics were poorer, that's why people focused on gameplay. I loved it, back when I had my old 3 86/4 86 /Pentium I, and my dad used to bring me these small, awesome games on Floppies (sometimes REAL floppies), and I spent hours playing them. It gave me a very satisfying sense of accomplishment when I got to the next level of Tyrian. It still does, but not as to me as a 4-year old. And the best part was that they weren't that addictive either, you could stop whenever you wanted to go outside and have some fun. God, those were the good times. Gaming today <<<<<<<<<<< Gaming in the 90's

I don't have favorites, because my opinion will only be corrected by some narrow minded person at one person or another.

Yeah, i remember playing SoF and having a blast.
Just.... Try it now, and you'll see that it's one of the worst games ever made, so bad and stupid that you'll actually laugh at it. "STOP SCREAMING!!!!!" *changes stance to something so ridiculous*

Yea now that I do remember it it was an extremely unrealistic game and it was pretty bad. SoF 2 was a small step up I think though, although I only played it once it seemed more realistic at least.
