It's a good show. I wouldn't call it a masterpiece of modern anime storytelling or something, and I definitely wouldn't judge a show's quality by how many fans it has, but it's a good show, and you should probably watch it if you enjoy anime.

The universe is very original and imaginative, there are a -wide- variety of characters, and nearly all of them are 3-Dimensional, with their own goals and personalities that develop over the course of the plot. The action is good. The animation quality fluctuates (as it does in ANY long anime), but when it's important, it can be really good. The various twists and turns are well done. It's kind of a kiddy show in some ways, and a lot of it's about stuff like "the importance of friendship" and etc, but it's got something for everybody pretty much. In many ways it isn't so kiddy.

The fillers are a joke though, complete awfulness. Skip them whenever possible.

Naruto fans can be pretty annoying but that's no reason not to enjoy something good. Hardcore fanboys and hardcore anti-fanboys are two sides of the same silly coin.

Naruto is a good anime to watch to waste some time. Naruto entertained me along with wolf's rain for quite some time. Naruto has similar characteristics to dbz as well as yu yu hakusho in the sense of "righteousness" and becoming the best you possibly can be.

It includes action as well as comedy from a wide array of chracters. Unfortunatly they do not dwell deep into the characters through main story line. A good amount of them are explained about their background and their techniques but nothing worth "awe".

if you are looking for good anime's i would suggest a nice easy black blood brothers 12 episode anime. Nice little get away from the typical vampire series...actually who am i kidding...similar to most of them but still good none the less.

Death note for less "blood action" but more suspense and thought provoking action.

Even Night Head Genesis would be something you could look into.
Two brothers, Kihiraha Naoto and Kirihara Naoya have supernatural power. Because of their power, they ware abandoned by their parents, and they have been raised in a laboratory isolated from societies. When they run away from the laboratory and get into a normal society, the trend of revolution occur. About using more than 10 percent of your brain and the capabilities a normal human can obtain in understanding this cap and surpassing it.

The animes i listed are shying away from the usual "Action" based anime you seem to have watched. Though BBB does include a lot of action, the others do not.

If you want to talk to me about going more indepth about these animes or even moreso about others that i would list but lack the time to do so now...feel free to pm me and i would be more than happy to get in touch with you

I've heard that Christions rate Naruto above God....
What the **** is that supposed to mean?

My opinion: Animes like DB, DBZ, Bleach, YuYu Hakusho, & Naruto all get popular practically for the same reason. Dragon Ball Z mainly got popular because of the characters, fighting & drawing styles - its plot isn't grand, and even the manga had plotholes. So I wouldn't say it's the best show in terms of plot, but it definitely had a way of intriguing people. I wouldn't say the manga nor the original Japanese anime of Dragon Ball was "kiddy"--according to the American standards a woman exposing her "breasts", "butt" or "vagina" in exchange for a "magic ball" isn't something parents or the FCC would tolerate on a children's "show." These standards vary in Japan; they have high tolerance for violence, nudity & sex, and I think it's disturbing when Americans try to earn money off of Japan's "goods", while in the process slice and dice to make it appropriate for a US audience; the children of the US seem to be so fragile in the mind that being exposed to "internet porn" will cause them life-long trauma---the susceptibility levels are rising and it's only a matter of time before we face harsh repercussions due to some of the above stated things. Japan isn't necessarily creating more violent video games or shows, it's just that we seem to be more vulnerable to that sort of violence. In any case, if I were a parent I wouldn't allow my child to watch Naruto. There are so many horrible references in that show, and I can't stand it--I don't need my kid exposed to that kind of garbage. If I were the head of the FCC I'd ban it, in fact, and I'd have a supportive argument; it's not something we should introduce to children this young--it's not good for America's youth, nor are violent video games.

People are desperate to experience their love for characters from DBZ again through another anime--Naruto's simply "newer." I'm yet to find anything remarkable about how the Naruto characters are drawn, not to mention the fighting; which I see as extremely repetitive. It's not just one fight, but every fight, and the creator seems to love using the element of "surprise"--having a character caught off-guard, rescued by a former-enemy, etc., and it's so annoying when the music starts playing. Am I supposed to be surprised? Thrilled? Emotional? It's a cartoon, yet when it depicts violence in such contexts it makes me angry--kids don't need that in their minds. Think what you want. It's an opinion - I think the US would be a lot better off without Sexy No-Jutsus/Slaughting Families to gain Power/Demons Devouring Your Souls/Hand motion idiocy theories in the minds of children, and other things that may be causing some form of "suasion" in adolescent lives today. Naruto's redundant now. At least with DBZ you didn't have such a hollow, and utterly pointless concept regarding Ki-energy, violence involving 12 year olds bashing eachother's skulls in, demonic characters, & psychotic characters who murder their parents.

The universe is very original and imaginative,
More like 5 characters who look alike, 20 who use the same style of fighting, at best 10 different personalities, so imaginative beyond the point of reality filled with kids, some who run around as bare-naked woman, have demons inside their bodies who give them power, trenchcoats to hide their insecurities, & eyes that allow them to to copy fighting techniques because they're too lazy to create their own styles.

Please, don't cry when Sakura cries for Naruto or Sasuke. It's just a cartoon.

I think people need to show some more respect ;/

Anyways,

I think Naruto is good for the first 100 to 125 eps (not sure where the fillers start, don't want to remember), but after that its bad, really bad.

When you bolded Openions...you meant opinions right? I'd hate for there to be a blatant pun that i missed when you bolded the item that would be blatantly spelled incorrectly.

I beleive i gave you suffice information for you to check it out or not. Worst case is YOUTUBE it....do some research on your own and come to the conclusions yourself. We don't know who you are nor what your interests are as well as you.

I consider Naruto to be the new DBZ. They have the same similarities and are pretty much the same in my eyes. Naruto is a douche with only one move just like goku and is so gee golly goofy yet he is the main character and as the main character will always overcome everyone that should kick his ass.

Naruto = Dragonball
Naruto: Shippuden or Naruto:Hurricance Chronicles = Dragonball Z

hope there wont be a naruto that equals Dragonball GT...

naruto before the time skip, will become uninteresting after naruto shippuden is released, like the way it was with dragonball and dragonball z.

Its quite overrated but its still a good anime. the first saga wasnt that intresting as my friends told me, but they were really starting to like it till the end, of course exluding fillers which would be after episode 135.
But if you expect somekind of mind blowing experience youre gonna get disappointed, but if you dont expect anything, like me youll enjoy it. It really depends on person if you like it or not...

There are 135 "real" episodes. 135-215 is filler, and can (<b>should</b>) be ignored.

I like the manga, hate the anime. Imo, they did what they did with dbz with the anime, shove in as much filler as possible, as many panning from character to character thats possible, as many flashbacks before and after every event/fight and explain almost everything before and after it's done. I like the story though.

BTW, If you're looking for a good anime, check out Samurai champloo, amazing series.
