When you transform into a new form for the first time, you should get an invulnerability shield similar to Gohan's shield move. An example from the series would be when Cell is first transforming into his perfect form, and Trunks attempts to attack him but is repelled by the energy.

its exactly like that... in the design documents (1st form gets invincibility).
I think all forms should be vulnerable for the 1st 5 seconds of the transformation, but after that get invincibility. That way it cant be abused by players (transforming right before a beam hits you) but they dont have to be sitting ducks for so long.
