i know this isnt directly esf related but when i try to install half life from the cd it
says

"C: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. the system is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microft Windows applications."

any idea wut i should do

Sounds like a pretty weird, but not unlikely, error to me. Try that, and if it doesn't work, keep Googling it (that's how I found that link).
