I think simcity died and stopped selling in the 90's. Who really plays that game? I can't imagine anyone playing it.

OMG I still play the original Simcity on my Macintosh Classic! I made it my job to make my city the worst play to live, ever.
Its hilarious to create earthquakes, tornado's, and summon the mighty Godzilla to rain down chaos and destruction.
Ok i lied I haven't played that game in a few months.

Back ontopic, I think its awful they're using DRM.
However on the flip side, who doesn't have an internet connection these days.
Unless your internet dies (which does happen from time to time) this wont ever be a problem.

I for one would like the ability to bring a game to a cabin, or on a bus, or on a train, without having to pay extra for that feature.

EA has changed their stance (or clarified, if you believe that) and is now saying that you won't need a constant internet connection to play the game. You will need to connect once everytime you startup, though, which is still complete bull****.

If the game is good, someone will crack it.
