If everyone just started to break the rules?

With all the warnings and discussions on warnings it has come to my attention that i must dive to a much deeper topic of insignificant stuff. That being: What would you moderators do if EVERYONE (except moderators) started breaking the rules and spamming? Would you guys just perm ban everyone so no one but mods visit the forums?

See i think it would be kind of funny. If EVERYONE was banned but the mods... then everyone would get banned. It would get boring and esf forum would die, until new people came here. I'd just like to know what the mods would do? If it were me, i'd be like *click make a new thread" OMG SPAM *Send messege* lol

A big majority of the hardcore community use the forum as their crutch when they're super bored, I doubt they'd want to screw that up.

And my suggestion if you can call it that, is if EVERYONE was banned but moderators.

I'm not saying go through with it. I'm just wondering if the mods would really ban everyone. I assumed they would. But i thought I should ask. My future plans depend on it. But not really. But seriously they do.

If there was a sudden spam fest, every user involved would rack up their warnings and be banned accordingly. If that means the entire forum populace, so be it. I don't think any of the moderators would have any qualms about it, since it actually makes our job easier to simply ban troublemakers.

Nah, they'd create a special hidden forum called the "Isolation Chamber". They put all the spammers in there and give them a mask so they can only view and post in that forum.
Then all mods will combine forces and crack some "yo momma" jokes. >_> <_<..brings back some good memories.

why not just making and spam thread and only allow people making in a message 1 pic and else text only and sigs like one pic and one text.

if somebody would spam just throw his spam to the spam thread and ban this idiot.

no, that was pretty vague TryForce xD. If everyone spams just install some kind of hack on the boards so that everyone who visits gets a few dozen types of spyware and adware installed and a few hundred porn pop-ups.

Even if all of the current membership goes insane, the forum must exist for newcomers to the mod. So, even if you all organized to act like idiots and waste bandwidth, well... see ya later. It'd be unfortunate, but that's our job. This place has a purpose beyond gathering all of the regulars here to e-chill. People who maliciously harm the order here will be removed, regardless of how many there are.

I didnt get what you just said man, no offense. I dont know if you just type fast, or you just cant type english that well or what. And dont take offense to that comment man, im not tryin to be mean, Im just tryin to figure you out.

So you all are sayin that all spammers (anyone who has recieved warnings for spam) should get their own little forum sector where they all can spam whenever the hell they want, without warnings?

If everyone WAS banned, there would be strife within the system itself. Moderators and Super Moderators quarrel amongst themselves under the now corrupt Administration...Just like the Middle Ages.

I bet they'd call up emergency mods in that situation, trustworthy individuals that have, say, been here since the forums started. In such a situation I would be happy to help, in my own quiet way.

I can imagine it, would be hilarious, a spamfest =P But I think the mods would ban like all the serious spammers and warn the people who only break the rules mildly and than the forums will continue living on like it does now.

I'll tell you what we'd do--close threads like this.

Either way...we have a system, and if everyone went crazy then they would eventually be disposed of per the systems' rules.

You know, for all the people who call us "tyrannical"...that is a real laugh, considering we allow threads like this to stay open. You are all lucky I don't have as much power as Cuc or Majin You...this place would have been hollowed out a long time ago (To be honest, sometimes I have to wonder if maybe purging 90% of the people here wouldn't help straighten things out anyhow).

To answer the question: if everyone but the staff was banned...the forum become like it was when I first joined. Then all the people who left due to the board's general decline would return, and we would have ESF be just like it was back in the good old days.

I dunno. We have felt the wrath of an only mildly aggravated Cucumba on a handful of occasions. If you guys ever wanted to see what he'd do to you all if you all ran wild...well...nice knowing you all.

Heh, the kai forum is a perfect example of what would happen.

Anyway, I don't think it's too bad here. I actually think this place has been getting a little more lenient with that sort of thing, though I could be wrong..

Well, if you want an honest answer:

If everyone decided to start spamming simultaneously, I'd continue doing my job. The good folks at Jelsoft (the makers of vBulletin) have created some very convenient tools that allow administrators, such as myself, to deal with whole blocks of users. If a group of offenders were large enough, I would likely switch to that sort of utility. I haven't had reason to use it yet, and I'm sure the forum community, as a whole, is not so myopic as to want to see what happens when I do.

So, to make a long answer short: if you all started spamming, I'd continue doing my job. You'd rocket through the disciplinary system and we'd terminate your livelihood on the forums. There'd be little difference from how we normally handle spammy users. =]
