Idea for transformations

I don't know if someone has thought of this, or even if its possible. Is there a way to change models in between an animation, really quickly, like split seconds. Because if you can, then you can make 5 or 6 models of the same person, but change the color of their hair to make it more gradually golden instead of just switching out the models to have the super saiyan. just a thought

ECX already has that feature I guess, with Big Pack though, the hair fluctuates from blond to black and then finally the transformation takes place...and about gradual coloring, transformations occur instantaneously for hair color, I mean there's no point in time when Goku has a mixture of black and blond hair...only when descending it occurs..

that is done just like the little pig / dog creature /alien from hl1 ^^
you know when it opens / closes his mouth the texture is animated...
or like you would have more textures in 1 model... like the scientists do ;)

Nope. HL has 2 types of model support. .MDL files who are very good for animating stuff but have no animated texture support what so ever and WRL models that support animated textures but no real animation support.

All the mouths in HL are modeled so thats not a texture animation, while Gokus eyes in that video are animated textures on the head. Meaning we can make him blink or make his hair go yellow. HL itself has no such support.

It's animated, and it's a model.



I'm sure you did the same thing for Goku. ;)

Nope. As far as i can tell that hound eye thing is donne my switching the skin layers on an existing model. Our own method takes a file that lies outside of the .mdl itself that has an animated version of the same texture as the model and takes that file to do the animation.

Basically saying its like slapping an animated GIF pic onto a model to use it as a texture. No special coding required. Just the standard effect call within the XML editor.

Are all textures, static or animated, still 8 bit?
