And this is good news because... you hate EA? I'm not going to let this bother me until I see actual proof of this.

1) By good news, he meant bad news. Sarcasm ftw.
2) I'm sure when you buy 2142 you'll notice a nice slip in there telling you all about the joys and wonders of being spied on.

i'll download a copy of the game (or steal someone's account) and write a program you can run that submits bogus reports

"the most visited sites by users are goatse, tubgirl, and meatspin?"

hilarious

It's disgusting. I'm hoping EA doesn't start to include this with other games, I'd hate not to be able to buy a game like Spore because they included what is essentially spyware in the game.

I'm amazed they actually managed to publish this.

Aren't there anti-spyware laws, or am I being too hopeful here?

Yeah, **** EA. **** them in the ASS.

LOL, screw them. So, if you read the nifty little disclaimer, and decide you don't want to join in, you are out $50, since no retailer will take the game back.

GJ EA, I decline and I'll stick with Novalogic's war sims.

Wow. Inconspicuous ads in game are one thing, but forcing the installation of spyware to gather information about you is completely different. How the **** is this legal? How can you put something like that inside the packaging? You can't disagree with it before you buy the game, and you can't return the game if you don't agree. Way to shaft people EA.

Edit: IP address, that's fine, but I would really like to know what "other anonymous information" is being gathered. This wouldn't even be an issue is they would be less vague about it.

Edit: Why are they advertising in a game I payed for?
