Hello, I've been attempting to import Half Life (specifically ESF) .MDL files into 3DS Max simply for the fun of seeing the models in this form and their inner workings. So far I've found a plugin that imports HL2 models, but did not recognize the ESF models as valid, telling me that "Version 10 is not supported" and "improper file format".

Is there an import/exporter that allows me to open these files?

None of the links to those plugins are working :( . And most of them seem to be exporters. One says decompiler, hopefully meaning importer, but again, dead link...

if you're using that import plugin i showed u earlier, you first have to decompile the mdl using milkshape before you can open the model. Mdl formats cant be opened in 3d applications, but mdl formats contain a lot of smd's which are there for editing (one reference smd, and the rest are animations)

Okay, that sounds right...how do you decompile them in Milkshape?

Nevermind, I think I figured it out!
