you have seen them everywhere, 3d wallpapers. well they arnt that hard to make.

tools needed:
photoshop
3d studio max

1.open 3d studio max and make a spike
2. copy this spike numeruos times and rotate it making some sort of porcupine shape.
3. save this image
4. open photoshop and set the canvas to 1024 x 768
5. open the image from 3dsmax
6. plaster this image over a white or black background and make sure it has a lighten or darken layer mode depending on the bg color
7. make a huge requtangle and color it white, then give it a gausian blur
8. rotate this requtangle and place it wher eu want
9. pick a text and make sure only one letter has a different color
10. make lines everywhere and have atleast 1 arrow in your wall then change the opacity of these lines.

u should have made something to this extent

now u can be the envy of everyone because u have just become like everyone. with these 10 steps u 2 have become a trend whore =)

u have to render the image first. when the image comes up u click the little disk and save it as a jpg or whatever u want

*facepalms* 3DSM, after rendering it, the little window pops up, and there should be a disk or something there.

3ds max is far more than $600... unless you're a student at a University try $2000+.

there are always ways but u hav to be really advanced at photoshop. u could be really advanced at photoshop but the background wont compare to a really well made hybrid between the 2 programs. my advice is to study some photoshop tutorials and get ideas from them
