How do I lower r_speeds because I think that will make my map lag less.

well, r_speeds optimizing is hard for beginners ... it always depends on the map. i suggest you learn how VIS works, then it shouldnt be hard to reduce r_speeds

yeah...an easy way to reduce em is just to stretch your textures...
but the more you stretch, the lower gets the quality, see!

ya could just decrease the amount of polycounts used. I mean.. if you got a tube for instance.. then its better to have it 8 sides the 16...

See what can be scrapped without ruining to much.

I trust you know how to check r_speeds ingame?

My r_speeds are 20 fps 38 ms 1160 wpoly

Is that okay, and how do I change the poly count :confused: .

poly is a tad high but I don't know the "perfect" number for ESF. For HL its best to keep it under 600 though causemany ppl still got ol comps.

Hm... I can look once.. If I don't lag in midcombat most ppl can run it. :p

just put the whole map in null (doesnt use wpoly, or sky but sky will take in render time but doesnt add wpoly)

and than just aply textures to all visible sides of the map, than just scale the textures as big as you can ( 3 or even 4 size for esf)

thats bout easiest thing to do with esf (no visblocking cuz most esf maps are pen areas

the "optimal"(quotation marks, cuz the lower the r_speeds are, the better runs the map!)
r_speeds for ESF are around 800-1000 wpoly! ...not higher

800 is best for overal hl engine

but esf maps sometimes go to 1500/1700
