Basically no one has died from a funnelweb spider lately (as in, this decade, or the previous decade, if I remember correctly - coconuts are more deadly).

I once read an interesting article that pointed out some big discrepancies between perceived and real danger. Eg most people are afraid of sharks, but (I think it was Australia) more people die from improper use of toasters than from shark attacks.

While this may be true (may, as I haven't done the research), you have more reason to be afraid of a shark than a toaster. Same with spiders. **** spiders.

Sharks barely kill anyone. Toasters, coffee-makers and gangmembers, however...

Its funny cause the beach down the road from me has taken a poll that people die more from Pufferfish then Shark Attacks.

Statistically, you're right. Sharks almost never attack humans. But just knowing that Tiger Sharks exist is enough to keep me out of the water.

I'd be more worried about those fishes that go inside your penis and become barbed.

Most of the people on this forum don't go swimming and pissing in the Amazon.

Zeo: My point was that tiger sharks aren't everywhere, hence the reference to the Amazonian fish that crawls inside your urethra and deploys barbs.

The statistical likelihood of getting attacked by a shark is higher than of getting your bore punched by a fish, especially during the hours of dusk and dawn. Personally, when I see a shark, I swim away. I'm not going to say, "Sup Sup" to a shark because math is on my side. If I were in the Amazon, I wouldn't piss in the water just to see if the stories are true, either.

Sharks have fluoride teeth, which makes them extra dangerous.

Not to mention that their teeth never decay.
