in hl2, there's no list of "change game" , then how do i change it to a mod

i only have my half life 's cd-key, so only my half life can play on steam, ....:\ and i did play half life2 with out steam, but i cant change it to a mod

Incase you didn't notice, he's playing HL2 stand alone without steam
which means it's warez aka illegal
