so is it true..that esf died on half life 1
its not more possible to play it online on half life 1,really need half life 2?
i cant even play anything on half life 1 online it says it needs an update but it is the latest version,so half life 1 ..is dead? isnt there anything else to play esf '' online '' cos i only play with bots now on hl1...
i wonder why they put away half life 1- they made us spend money for buying a new half life , probably to prevend more copys, cos the new half life(hl2) needs a cd key thats only available in the cover of hl2 so its almost impossible to make copys of it. but further there''s nothing special about hl2...
unless u see somethin special in it? then tell me hmm?!
well its been years and now im back on esf but this time there aint no hl1 online..but ive seen many posts about esf 1.3 and all we do is..WAIT?
like 6 months ago some1 said in January 1.3 will be released ..and more ppl say that.but when exactly will 1.3 really be releaseD? who knows? no1 cos their ****ing with us!

Uh.. Dude, Sounds like you need steam. ESF isnt dead, Its still alive and 1.3 is on its way. No you dont need Hl2 to play it. Also the team isnt being paid or anything to do this, So they cant get a new version out as fast as gaming companies can. They have lives so they cant work 24/7.

So, Get steam to play online and wait till 1.3s out, Its coming.

EDIT:

Heres the site. http://www.steampowered.com You need a legit copy of HL1 with the CD keys so you can play online.

Depending on the last time you played ESF or any other HL mod, a few big things to many big things have changed. It sounds like you left in the WON era. Man, you missed a lot of WON vs. Steam controversy.

The team isn't "****ing with us." ESF is still alive and 1.3, the next expected version, is in progress. If the mod was dead, don't you think there'd be much less forum activity? (and this is nothing compared to the past -_-)

Anyway, get Steam, register your CD key under it, and download ESF. And don't worry about ESF moving to HL2. It's never going to.

ESF is alive and kickin'
and since its a HL mod, why should it require HL2?
however, Valve discontinued the WON support a long while ago (WON = the internal HL authoring system (or so)) and now everyone HAS to use Steam in order to play online.
So, just register a Steam account, register your HL cdkey on your account, download or import Half-Life and install ESF
viola ... done :)

You dont have to worry about that, they've made over 20 billion CD key's at the last (im guessing). So if you still have your HL CD-key, it should work.

If you need to get a new one, just goto a local game shop. Their 20 bucks now a days...

You should already have a CD-Key with your copy of Half-Life, provided you actually bought it. If you didn't, you're going to have to.

Just download the installer. It should point to the right directory already. Ultimately, everything goes under steamapps\youremailhere\half-life or whatev er (You'll know what I mean when you see the directory)

Install Half-life, now install steam, now install esf, then you're good to go.

Did you even read any of the posts? x_x

1.) Download Steam.
2.) Register an account and give it your Half-Life CD key
3.) Download and install the HL base, and ESF

Steam is the network over which all Half-Life mods are played now. Years ago it was the WON network, which was the server browser and whatnot in the traditional HL package. WON was replaced by Steam, and is now offline. The only way you're going to be able to play ESF, and any other HL mod, is through Steam.

If you don't own a legal copy of Half-Life, then order one off of Steam for $20 USD. Don't bother trying to feed Steam a pirated CD key: it won't work. From the way you typed your initial post, it looks like you do own a copy, but by the way you're responding, I'm starting to think you don't.

The Steam directory is the parent directory. Half-Life goes into Steam, not the other way around.

I get the feeling you are just trying to copy folders around in hopes that it will work. So let me just make this perfectly clear, just incase.

You NEED to register your copy of Half-Life through Steam. You cannot get around that. If you do not, you cannot play Half-Life through Steam, and thus cannot play ESF.

squealerx, not to sound rude, but install Steam as they said. There are also many FAQs and guides to installing Steam on their site aswell.

Your directory should look somewhat like this :
Steam\SteamApps\accountname\half-life\esf

I feel I must stress again, that you NEED to register your copy of Half-Life through Steam. Simply moving folders to the correct spots will not work. You MUST register your Half-Life CD-Key with Steam in order for Half-Life to work.

That means you need a unique CD-Key. Unique meaning, no one else is using it. If you don't have one, you will have to purchase another copy of Half-Life.

One last thing. Try not to double post as it is against forum policy. If you've got something to add and no one has replied yet, you can simply edit your previous post.

Ok, read what pain is telling you. IN order to play online you MUST buy Half-Life. if you keep asking for keygens your thread will be murdered.
