Day of Defeat? Or Day of Defeat Source? If you have DoD1, then go to steam. And click register a product I already own. Register it etc. You'll be good to go. (search games)
Anything used on the HL2 engine won't work. In order to play ESF you need either Counter-Strike (not source or CZ) Day of Defeat (not source) or Half-Life 1 (Not 2)
