I only have cs 1.6 but not hl and when i put the esf folder in the counter-strike folder and click on the esf icon it just opens up cs 1.6 so wht do i do

Second step, buy CS 1.6 without condition zero.

Anything that includes condition zero is unacceptable.

Second stem works better (and you can be shure it works) if you buy Half Life 1 ^^

If it goes directly to Counter-Strike, it means you have The Counter-Strike version from the Condition Zero Pack.

Install Half life 1, then Install esf into it, and then the patches if you have them.
Note that you don't need steam to play offline if you have the patches.

Actually, you do to launch steam once before you can play in offline mode. Plus you need Steam to play in offline mode, but steam goes automatic in offline mode when it can't find the internet.
