Since when is Gordon fighting to save his own ass? If he did he would have raped Alyx and pretty much leave the city to go on some island to watch semi-nude chicks dance. He actually did have the fate of the world on his shoulders and he did fight to save it. He could have allied with Breen and have a bucket of slaves to fight to the death in mud just for his pleasure but he blew his ass.

And time is just one of its things.

As for who he is. Someone who was a legend before Freeman even existed. And every true gamer knows atleast 1 Zelda game, and thats The Ocarina of Time.

And I bet he won't have the time to throw his sword and shield, pull out his ocarina and sing some **** before a rpg rocket blows his head clean off or a crossbow arrow nails him to the wall.
