You should use Worldcraft for mapping.. its on you HL CD ... but you should download a newer version and some tutorials cuz wc is heavy to confg for newbies...

Please use the newest WorldCraft Hammer ED it work mutch better!

if you arent looking to get into just HL design then there are many other options like UT or if you just want to program try learning java,c++
