Well, the thing is, im looking for some 80s disco, dance songs, not Trances, but 80s style disco and dance. Something more poppish, less psychedelic. It should contain lyrics.

The thing is I don't know where to start, so you guys, what songs and bands should I listen to? Or start with?

Thanks

Well there's tons to choose from, but dance music makes it kinda hard.

I'd go with

Michael Jackson - anything by MJ in the 80's was pretty good
David bowie - Most things by him, dance wise "lets dance" is a good way to start, but he's got lots of great stuff
Blondie - Most stuff
Kraftwerk - the model
The Police - Most stuff
Durran Durran - most stuff
Frankie goes to holywood - Relax
Human league - Most stuff again, but "Dont you want me" is epic
Culture club - Do you really want to hurt me?
Madness - they're ska, but they kick ass so I'm putting them here
The Smiths - More indy than dance, but songs like "This charming man" cant go ignored from the 80s, the smiths are legendary

Thats all I can remember of the top of my head right now, tons of stuff in the 80's but dance isn't really the best side of it.

There was no disco in the 80s
Rock, Hip-Hop, Funk, and Electronic, and of course, Pop :0
Eurythmics, Run DMC, Sugarhill Gang, Gary Numan, Europe, David Bowie, Blondie, Beastie Boys, Michael Jackson, Prince etc etc

Off the top of my head though,

Blondie
Abba
The Police
Europe
Gary Numan
Eurythmics
David Bowie
Visage
Prince
Chaka Khan
Michael Jackson
Eddie Grant
Phil Collins
A-Ha (Take on Me)
Spandau Ballet
Duran Duran
Whitney Houston
Culture Club (Boy George etc)
UB 40
Flashdance theme
Lionel Richie
Wham!
George Michael
Madonna
Kylie Minogue
RICK ASTLEY :D
Opus III (Fine Day)
Kurtis Blow
Afrika Bambaataa
Grandmaster Flash
Run DMC
Nena (99 Luftballoons)
Herbie Han****
Lisa Lisa
ABC
Toni Basil (Hey Mickey)
Salt N Pepa

Enjoy o_O

P.S. Knew i forgot a couple of groups: New Order, Depeche Mode, and Bronski Beat. You'll probably recognise Bronski Beat's most famous song from Supermode's "Tell Me Why"

I'm sorry, but you actually want to listen to music made in the 80s? There's some of the worst music known to man from that decade. Actually the majority of music from that decade is bad.

I'm baffled by people liking metal, doesn't mean there isn't any good metal out there.

Yeah, it is not my concentrated music, but it happens when there are some songs from a certain genre worth listening to, seriously.

For example, my main music style is Rock in the sense of Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, Deep Purple, The beatles and so on, but im also listening to other styles like reggae, old school rap, Israeli rock, Rock and Roll, Blues, Psychedelic rock, punk and more. I still have my main interest which is the most important, but it is not the only one.

And some songs from the 80s are nice.. not most I guess

Yea but I wasn't talking about a genre. I was talking about music from the 80s in general.

You take that back.

Not everything from the 80s is crap.

Heck music from the 70s, 80s and 90s is still better than the **** that gets made today ^^

Yes, but in your sweeping statement you condemned every genre during the 80's.

I was going to argue some more, but seeing as how everyone is going to keep jumping on my statements I just don't care anymore. Screw you guys, I'm going home.
