so heres what happens. i bought dod cuz id rather have that than hl and i run the installer and the install button is still grey. i browse and go to the dod folder and then it lets me install. once its installed i try and play and it takes me into dod. esf doesnt show up on my steam games list either. what do i do?

ESF won't work with Condition-Zero packs.

what czero packs? i bought dod seperate from cz. isnt that how youre supposed to do it?

Indeed, but the problem you described is what happens when someone has a Condition-Zero pack. You'll need to buy Half-Life 1.
