for a mod you'll need a whole team
for models you can use milkshape or 3dstudio max
for tutorials look at the stickies

I think most people here use milkshape 3d (free demo at http://www.milkshape3d.com ) or 3d studio max to make models.
It's all in the stickies, on top of the page...
but your new so you know that 4 in the future...
