(CNN) -- Ten states plan to file a federal lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the new health care reform bill, Florida's attorney general announced Monday.

Bill McCollum, the Republican attorney general under fellow Republican Gov. Charlie Crist, told a news conference that the lawsuit would be filed once President Obama signs the health care bill into law. He said he'll be joined by his counterparts in Alabama, Nebraska, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah and Washington.

All of the attorneys general in the 10 states mentioned by McCollum are Republican, but McCollum said the lawsuit would be about the law and not politics.

Also Monday, Virginia's Republican attorney general said his state would file a lawsuit challenging the health care bill. It was unclear if Virginia would join the other states or proceed on its own.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed the bill on Sunday night, and Obama intends to sign it Tuesday, according to Democratic sources.

What will health care reform mean to you?

McCollum said the lawsuit would challenge the bill's provision requiring people to purchase health insurance, along with provisions that will force state government to spend more on health care services.

"This is a tax or a penalty on just living, and that's unconstitutional," he said of the mandate to purchase health coverage. "There's no provision in the Constitution of the United States giving Congress the power to do that."

McCollum also said that portions of the bill would force states to spend money they don't have, which he called a violation of the 10th Amendment to the Constitution.

"There's no way we can do what's required in this bill and still provide for education, for foster care, for the incarceration of prisoners, all the other things that are in this bill," he said.

McCollum said he expected the lawsuit to eventually reach the U.S. Supreme Court.

Later Monday, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said the Obama administration expected to win any lawsuits filed against the health care bill.

The Democratic governor of Washington criticized her state's attorney general, Rob McKenna, for being part of the planned lawsuit.

Gov. Chris Gregoire issued a statement that said she disagreed with McKenna's decision and that the attorney general was not representing her. Gregoire's statement also said she would actively oppose the lawsuit.

We have had your new healthcare system for ages now. How can America, one of the richest countries in the world, not have enough money to do this? You might want to check your expenditures to see if you are not spending too much money on something else (*cough* war *cough*)

Agreed. Our system is similar and we still somehow arnt plunging into the unendless depths of bankrupcy because of it.

Besides there is one part of that whole quote that i find total and utter bullcraphorse****

but McCollum said the lawsuit would be about the law and not politics.
Not about politics >.> Its ALWAYS about politics. Every single time. But if they are so worried about running out of cash, then maybe they need to shorten their own paychecks to that of regular people rather than *****ing about money while beeing driven round in high class expensive cars.

Attorneys General are not "The People" though. As I recall, most states have it so the AG can bring any lawsuit.

What did you expect?
After communism came democracy... the perfect regime for business(All kinds of business). Now people are fed up with it because of the poverty growing up fast. So a new regime has to emerge soon enough (This is for countries that actually "experienced" communism, not America but there's not much of a difference, people are still people).
As Grega said, It's ALWAYS about politics.

With all the bull**** with the Texas board of education (indoctrination) happening, I'm glad something positive has finally happened.

In before the token conservatards on the forum chime in that we're destroying America.

The big effects, such as not being able to deny people insurance due to a previous condition or college kids being able to stay on their parents' insurance plans until they are 26 will not go in to effect until 2014.

Again, I can see why people would have ISSUES with the bill. Perhaps they do not FAVOR Obama, which is fine. But these crazy people who just outright hate this bill with a murderous passion and everything the President does scare me. These Tea bagger types are going to do something very stupid one day and people like Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck who fan these fires are going to play dumb when the **** hits the fan.

Don't be silly, you're just a terrorist supporter. Seriously though, like many people have already mentioned Canada and a bunch of other countries have had free health care and Stalin hasn't appeared yet! Ok, I guess I still wasn't serious.

About time the states started working on a PROPER health care system, you're only a few decades behind the rest of the civilized countries!

Wait, nothing is effective until 2014?? WHY??

At least my friend says the bill is open to later amendments, which he thinks gives hope for the public option.

Personally, I don't know why anyone is *****ing about money. I never understood international debt, not when governments print their own money and when at the end of the day, the argument boils down to, "Oh, you want me to pay you your money back? Okay, come and take it. By the way, we're the world's most potent military force. Your call."

But seriously, when the country that could simultaneously fight off three major countries has debt problems, who can possibly make them answer for it?

I think I speak for most people here when I say you're an ignorant ****. Though it could be worse, you atleast admitted not knowing **** about it.

There are several examples of what happens, to countries, that print money because they are in debt, going on right now. (There have been quite a few in the past too for that matter. People don't learn from their mistakes on don't learn what happens in the first place I guess, this is one of the reasons why a proper educational system is so important but that's another topic all together.)

Print too much money will cause money to devalue(inflation), meaning everything goes up in price. You'll end up paying 100 dollars for a loaf of bread. In some African country(Africa is south of Europe, which in turn is east of America in case you're wondering.), it's actually in the millions already.

Anyway lets make an analogy of your little view of America being the worlds "bully" when it comes to debt.
Imagine a school, which has a bully that takes away the money from others.. Normally they would be punished, however in this school, the bully is the principle. No one will punish him.
What happens is that people will eventually leave the school, and cut out the director from the picture all together. Which means he'll be all alone.
America can't survive in todays world all alone, economically anyway. So no, it will never boil down to what you say.

Also might I add that your parents did a horrible job raising you. Seriously, saying it's oké to take stuff that others earned just because they are stronger..

Hmm, didn't we have a situation like this roughly 70 years ago? I'm pretty sure we're all safe from WW3 until the Republicans get into office in 2012 though.
