Considering porn is a billion dollar industry, I'm going to venture out and guess a lot of people.

I could picture Blue-ray discs being used for releases of entire tv series some time down the track, and if not blu-ray one of the various HD-DVD layer sized discs. 200gb sounds nice though, however what could we expect recording times to be like?.

Its either Smith and me or me and Smith.

Hehe, whatever you say =P. ~Smith (Oh, hey, I'm acting like an ESF Moderator! [Zr reference?])

Considering I used to say "name" and I until my teacher told me otherwise, I remember it very well.

BluRay
Pros: Much more studio support. More storage. MUCH more durable.
Cons: Price.

HD-DVD
Pros: Cheap(er).
Cons: Not much studio support, inferior storage, inferior durability.

It doesn't take a genius to see which will prevail.
Well that's your view, but you know more on the subject than the average consumers so you can make that call. If your average person walks into a store and sees two copies of the same HD movie in 1080p, one at $5-10 extra at no real benefit (to them) then they're going to want the player (also cheaper) that plays them. They're not going to care about the size difference as long as both formats have the capacity to hold the movie, and the durability thing isn't exactly common knowledge.

Now studio support is a different matter, if anythings going to win the war it'll be that. Getting a PS3 and all, i'm naturally behind Blu-ray and wish everyone else would do the same so all the studios would support it rather than a selection. However, as the HD-DVD discs can easily hold an HD movie and are (assumed to be) cheaper to produce, i'm surprised they haven't got more studio support.

I just hope they have a player disk reader thing that can read both HD and Blue ray. I really don't want to buy two seperate things. I don't want a 360 at all.

We won't need both unless they start releasing movies on only one format or the other. But if they do that and survive the ensueing piracy, well, good for them.

Hey man we're just trying to imitate you esf mods that's all. We try :p

I'm with Blu-Ray. I figure if HD-DVD could hold that much, it'd be just as expensive. Plus the thought of no scratches is orgasmic.

Fire Phoenix....is there anything in this world that you don't relate to sex?

Still, if you buy a PS3, you won't need to buy a Blu-Ray player (which will be quite expensive) and you can do a whole lot more for only 500 dollars (or 600 if you buy the 60GB HD version)

Nope, not really =/

But if that's the case then it gives me that many more reasons to buy a PS3. Not that I had enough already

As far as I know, that's what's happening, which is why certain studios are supporting one format instead of the other.

Blu-ray has recieved more support, but not all the studios support it yet.
