I know I use this filter all the time, to brighten up renders and sometimes BGs.

It's like VG designers saw how it's spammed in photoshop documents, and decided they'll apply the same concept to stuff they'll call "next-gen."

I just read the comic about 5 minutes before coming here and seeing the thread. At least i know now how they make those effects... Real is brown.

That has nothing to do with Gaussian Blur or photoshop. . .

Its about bloom, which is used a lot in next-gen games.

they just used gaussian blur in the comic.

If you look closely, the comics name was also gaussian blur. And who said it was somehow related to gaussian blur.

It doesnt really show how to do it though =P

Simple, just have a 2nd layer of Gaussian Blur and change that to all sorts of filters, usually screen for Bloom results.
