Am I getting better at this? I'm still not good enough for the "brushes" or tut experimenting yet, so its mostly just messing around to get a result. Trying to do/add stuff to the second one, can't put my finger on what though.

the 1st one is good nice render ect but the 2nd looks bad not being mean or anything the pic is way 2 bright and the stuff around him just dont look right

Yes, the second one is indeed crap. I was just wondering what I could do to make it better, or both of them for that matter.

I like the first one. Looking good. Maybe overdid it a bit with the red, but it makes a theme for it.
The second one however has this horrible grainy effect that makes it drop rating to below cero. Simplistic background. Cute font on it though.
Keep it up, you'll improve with practice.
