GeForce 7600GT is 7300GT :O

Well it's like this, I have a friend who owns this mainboard: http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=775i65GV&s=775 and he bought a geforce 7600GT agp8x. When I open the computer it says GF7600GT (in ms-dos) but when enterring windows and after I install the drivers it only says 7300GT... tried with both Windows XP and Windows Vista... any ideas what would be?...



His specs:



Pentium Dual Core 2.8 ghz

1,5GB DDR 400

PSO 420W

VGA GF 7600GT



I'm going to try updating the mainboard bios tomorrow...

are you sure it's a dual core cpu?
seems a bit out of place with such an old hardware

Anyway try using GPU-Z for more specefic information

Those doesn't look like the official Nvidia software to me.

well it's a 7600 alright!
you can see because it's a G73 chip

also the GPU speed is way to high to be a 7300.

so ignore what it says, it's a 7600GT and it's working properly
it's probably a bug in the nvidia driver but you shouldn't lose any performance because of if

hope so... http://www.beyond3d.com/resources/chip/111 here it says that the 7300GT is G73 too.. and I'm getting low fps in NFS Carbon with high settings 1024x768 lol..

well you got me there, however the 7300 only has 2x64ddr memory modules, which totals at 128.
your card has 256

GPUZ shows 8 pixel / 4 vertex just like in this 7300 version: http://www.pointofview-online.com/default2.asp?content_id=142 unlike the 7600GT version like 12 pixel / 5 vertex... >_>
