Am I the only one that thinks CoD4 shouldn't be this high up? It brought nothing new really.. Recycled CoD3 engine with slight updates, same old boring gameplay that we've sene in.. basicly any shooter.

It didn't do anything new, but it did everything better. It's really the only online fps I enjoy.

CoD4 was plain awesome. It deserved to win.

Is anyone else puzzled that Assassin's Creed is nowhere in there?

when a game as repetative as AC, there's a reason why it's not up there.

The games fun, for the first few levels, then you get bored with it because you do the same 4 things over and over and over.

Funny how they count the orange box as one game... and then have it win a multiplayer award (only 1/3rd of it was multiplayer... why not just give it to TF2?)

in CoD4 you dont do the same thing over and over huh?

i'm not much of a gamer but to me it looks like :The latest greatest games! instead of the Games of the Year.

CoD4 was beautifully executed, great story, fantastic pace and great levels of interaction with everything in the game. Single player played out like an eight hour movie that I'd pay to see in the theartres twice.

Orange Box was similarly excellent.

Orange Box and Portal deserve all the recognition they can get. Even good ol' Yahtzee couldn't fault Portal. Gave us exactly what we anticipated, plus a humorous/sinister plot and a character more than worthy of a "Best Character" award, GLaDOS.

Hmm...I'll have to look up COD4 on youtube with all these rave reviews. I didn't know a WWII fps could be deep enough to be as good as I'm hearing. I'm sure I'll be surprised.

It's not WWII anymore (omg, I know right?), it's called "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" and takes place in present wartime.

I'm more curious what game you've played where you don't do the same thing over and over. Please point me to that game. >_>

There's nothing fun about doing the same thing over and over and over again in Assassin's Creed though. That's what separates it from CoD4, where you may be doing the same thing (killing and moving forward), but it's extremely entertaining. Assassin's Creed feels like they didn't get a chance to finish it and add the side quests that it desperately needs.

In assassin's creed you know what is going to happen before it happens, it's how you execute it that's different.

In assassin's creed you get the objective to beat the **** out of a guy, so you beat the **** out of him.

Then you go eaves drop on this one group. So you sit there and listen (wow what fun).

Then you go kill a guy surrounded by guards, then you run like a pansey and hide. Then everyone forgets who you are so you can kill again without getting arrested. If you kill 2 or 3 people you start to get recognized.

Then you blend in with those ever so well put group of monks for social blending, however the only difference is they don't have weapons. Because you know, a guy with a **** load of weapons on him isn't obvious in social blending.

Then you go back to beating someone up, eavesdropping and killing a guy surrounded by guards again.

In CoD4 you never know what's going to happen because you don't know who's around what corner, along with the incredibly deep multiplayer.

You don't get CoD4 for the singler player, namely because it's a very short game, but the multi player is amazing. And that, my friend, is where the games true beauty lies.

CoD4 may be another shoot and kill game, but they do it better then any other game, and it never gets old. I haven't put it down since I got it.

I played the single player campaign just to get the cheats, and then I played it a third time to take full advantage of them.

I rarely finish single player games because I end up either getting bored or preoccupied with something else. CoD4 is long enough to leave an impression on me and short enough that I wasn't sick of running down hallways or corridors by the end of the game. It was the perfect experience for me.

I just bought CoD 4 yesterday, I haven't finished the single player yet but god damn.
It deserves #1 PC Game of the year.

I bought the first CoD when it came out those years ago, then it was a great game and CoD 4 is somewhat the same but ****ing beautiful and plays great.
