Well if you rent a game and you decide to "keep it", they ship you the box for the game and let you keep the game you rented, like buying a used game really. But I have been with them for awhile and I think after like 6 or 9 months you qualify for 10% discount on all games you keep. So I can typically keep a new game that has been rented for $40-$50
