I'm looking for some more stand-up comedians to check out.

I'm already a big fan of Mitch Hedberg, Demetri Martin, Lewis Black, and David Cross. Please don't recommend Dane Cook, I used to like him, but then I got bored.

Anyway, one of my favs right now is Jim Gaffigan. Chris Rock does pretty good stand up. Dave Chappelle's stand up is alright. Bill Hicks is an extremly funny (although far left) stand up comedian. George Carlin also has a lot of good stuff.

I think you should look into Steven Wright.

"I stayed up all night playing poker with tarot cards, I got a full house and four people died."

"Sometimes you can't hear what I'm saying, because sometimes I'm in parenthesis"

"One time I got pulled over and the cop says, "Don't you know the speed limit is 55 mph," and I said, "I wasn't going to be out that long."

"My friend George is a radio announcer, when he walks around a bridge you can't hear him talk."

Uhh...

George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Bill Maher, Martin Lawrence, Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, Pablo Francisco, Dave Chapelle, Eddie Griffin, and Bill Cosby.

I can't think of anymore comedians.

Ok, you said David Cross, so you're cool. You should check out his DVD "Let America Laugh" and not only taht, get some seasons of Mr. Show, his old sketch comedy show, which was golden.

Bill Hicks and Carlin are also pretty badass, Patton Oswalt, is another one of my favorites. I also recommend Ricky Gervais, John Pinette or whatever that one fat dude's name is sucks, and dane cook is a hack who uses stolen material and is a worse one dimensional character than Adam Sandler. Any of the blue collar stuff is utter crap as well.

Oh, and if you want to hear the best stand up comedian of all time, go old school, back to one of the guys who was way ahead of his time when it came to the comedic timing, and the use of certain subjects: Richard Pryor.

Nick Swardson is kinda hit or miss but if you like what he does, he's pretty funny.

I wish I could remember his name, but the funniest comedian I've ever seen was on a local access channel one time up here, he was a big fat (like, swollen, fat) spanish guy, with a really high pitched voice. He was hilarious beyond all compare.

Most of the blue collar stuff isn't that good but Ron White's solo stuff is really good too. Plus I just love the Tater Salad bit. At the live show I went to, he closed without doing it, and then he got a huge standing ovation, and came back out, and he just says "So I got thrown out of a bar in New York City--" and the crowd went crazy. Heh.

Denis Leary is like Bill Hicks on crack, though his OTT performances are fun to watch, his best stuff is calmer, more substantial.

If you want to try some international humour, Bill Bailey and Ricky Gervais are pretty decent too.

Saving the best 'til last, Dylan Moran is my all time #1 favourite stand-up comedian, check out some of his unreleased stuff on YouTube, it should leave you wanting more. He has two DVD's out.
