Fahrenheit 451
The Catcher in the Rye
Of Mice and Men
All the King's Men

Mind you I'm not a very big reader, I was forced to read these in school one way or another. Allthough I don't do it on my free time, I love reading as long as I can get past the first few chapters and get into it. At that point, I can't stop reading the book.

WOO! Go Discworld! Rincewind books are the best out the the series ;)

Too hard to pick a favourite book.
I love Discworld books (Interesting Times and The Last Continent are great).
A close second favourite series is The HitchHikers Guide to the Galaxy series.
I think the Red Dwarf books are great.

in order of importance to me :0

Nineteen eighty-four - awesome prediction of the future and disturbing points on political totalitarian control

Of Mice and Men - books from america's great depression tend to be good anyway, but this one took the cake for its sad, yet justifying ending

the origional first printed LOTR and Hobbit boxed editions i have - simply because they own the movie and there worth about £500 a pop \o/

the Da Vinci Code - ive always critisised religion, this just takes it to a more logical view \o/

and finally im having a disturbing obsession with Edgar Allen Poe's novels at the moment, just finished the Rue Morgue Murders and now onto the Purloined letter. no clue why, but they make a good read for inspiration.

I'd select different people I know love for their choices but.. well.. I love you all! You are all better people! :D

Ahem.

The Dark Tower Collection, by Stephen King.
American Gods, by Neil Gaimen.

All others I /would/ say have already been said.

. . .

And Night-Watch by Terry Pratchett. That short, orangutan-obsessed man is my hero.

These two are my personal favorite ( warning big image )

I've got the luxury version (2 different images ) of the da vinci code
which cost me quiet some money but it was worth it.. the paper alone feels so nice ^_^; it's a pleasure reading it

anyway
By now I've bought "the da vinci code" three times by now ( including once for myself ) as birthday presents and "the bernini mystery" ( don't know if I translated it right ) twice!
good books indeed!

My list of favorite books is quite titanic, so I'll limit it to my favorite authors and their poignant works.

R.A. Salvatore (Drizzt Du'Urden books, all 11ish of them.)

Anything by Steven King (but especially It and any of his short story compilations, specifically the Mist)

Anything by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child (anything with Special Agent Aloysious Penderghast. Though the Ice Limit is one of my favorites from them.)

J.R.R. Tolkein. Nuff said.

Harry Potter series.

Any of the Narnia books.

Tess Gerritsen's Gravity

Richard Preston's The Cobra Effect

Dean Koontz's Phantoms

Rouge Squadron series.

Timothy Zahn's unforgettable Star Wars sequels.

Tom Clancy stuff is pretty cool too.

any kind of macabre horror

and last but not least:

Howard Phillips Lovecraft.

The old ones were, the old ones are, and the old ones shall be again.
