Obsidian's post-apocalyptic RPG non-sequel Fallout: New Vegas will arrive on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in "Fall 2010," publisher Bethesda confirmed today.

Though Fallout 3 was crafted internally at Bethesda, the team at Obsidian Entertainment is quite familiar with the franchise, as the independent developer was founded by veterans of now-defunct Fallout series creator Black Isle Studios.

Also revealed was a brief synopsis of the game, and the debut teaser trailer:

Fallout: New Vegas, the follow-up to Fallout 3 - the 2008 Game of the Year - brings this beloved franchise to a location only Fallout could do justice: Vegas. Fallout: New Vegas takes all the action, humor, and post-apocalyptic grime and grit of this legendary series, and raises the stakes.

"War never changes"? Imma steal from MGS4 much?
The phrase was introduced in Fallout (released in 1997) and has since been used in it's sequels (Fallout 2 and Fallout 3).

I'm really interested in seeing what Obsidian is going to do different with New Vegas than what Bethesda did with Fallout.

Have you never played a Fallout game before? :p
I am going to commit blasphemy here: Apart from Fallout 3...no. When the Fallout 1 and 2 were released I wasn't nearly as good at English as I am now, so I never really understood the dialogue of the game. And now that I do, I still haven't taken the time to play the games yet :p

"War. War never changes." spoken by Ron Perlman is a trademark of the Fallout series. Do your homework, Sicron. You big slacker, you.

And go play Fallout 1 and 2. NOW.

Personally, I believe Obsidian (might as well call them Black Isle) will make the game very lore correct, and make it feel more connected to the old fallout universe. Fallout 3 was basically a post apocalyps fps with rpg elements. The only thing that linked to the Fallout franchise was the title. Obsidian will probably go back to it's roots. I can see a lot of old school stuff returning in this new game.

Honestly, the only thing I can say I am 'excited' about, is the Casino thing. The rest just looks like...all flash, no substance. Just more of the same, more...Fallout.

Isn't anyone familiar with Obsidian Entertainment? I mean.. the only game they made recently, from scratch, that's not a sequel... is Alpha Protocol. And that sucked balls. They do best when they already have an existing world to play with. Don't expect anything revolutionary from them.

It was... completely broken. Not saying it wasn't fun. But the gameplay was pathetic. S:
