here's the first player model for eternity mod(hl2 mod).

skin isn't final, this skin is something I did for my own practice, the real eternity mod skinner will be making it better.

so ya

Here's one of the lod

Here's close lod

I'm slowly lowering the polycount and making more lod for the model.

btw, the close one, I made the sleeve smoother already.

credits to http://thnom.tehunlose.com/model_resource/ for the face ref, and skin.

here's the wireframe of the semi close lod

for the polies that i se on the wireframe, its infinitely more boxy than it should be

the proportions are just bad all around, have you ever seen a human with a rectangle torso?, ALL people have a natural curve to thier stance, everyone slouches a little, one would have to force themselves to stand like that, perfectly straight up,

also your use of polys is horrid, learn to rotate them into place, you can save polies and have a more natural looking model this way, the wireframe shot of the model almost looks like a checkerboard,

its either trash or treasure, ill let you decide which one i picked >_>

im a harsh critic, but i know what im talking about, theres no nice way to tell you the bad things about your model

if you're modelling for a hl2mod you can put more poly's in his body.cause right now al your poly's went to the face.i like the head though

roger that, I'll fix up on the lod reference!

it does have more polies, the wireframe your looking at is an lod(level of detail)

However the slouching part, I didn't think it really matters because the lod is gonna be seen from an intermediate distance, I'll fix it up for a closer lod though, and I'll totally fix it up on the reference.smd file.

Heard that many times from you ;D

List of things that I need to fix:
- ears stick out too much
-knees look too low
-bottom of the trousers is too boxy
- fix up polies

edit:

lod

you do realize that in hl2 you can use up too 7500 polies per player model, even though you really only need 4000 =/

what im saying is, rather than uping the lod for the initial model, is make a model with the 4000 polies, than lowering the lod instead, saves you a hell of a lot of work, and youed be sure your higher poly md animates well

Offtopic: hmm, seeing this is making me want to post WIP's of eternal-silences character model that i'm making soooo bad, but i cant, it's under wraps :x

/agrees with GodGundam and Nuttzy.

A tricount would be nice, and a closeup of the face wires too. I don't want to say anything till i know actual details :)

Also... you should convince the mod leader to use normalmaps, they enhance models sooo much, you need to do it yourself to understand ;)

well I started with a model that I thought was good enough, but it was a bit boxy so I upped the detail a bit, then I worked my way down again to create the lods. Overall process wasn't so good because I meshsmooted the arms once, and I thought they turned out good, but after I saved it, I realized how many wasted polies it generated. Lesson learned, do not use mesh smooth.

As gir stated, I should learn normal mapping lol, and I wouldn't give up on something that adds so much detail.

I'll post screens tomorrow for the face, do you want the highest lod or lowest or ?

that's offtopic, and I'd be advertising if did, so the answer to your question is no.

Sorry forgot to update you guys.
