Deja vu, eh?!

Well, I made this map for StudioNumb. You probably haven't heard of StudioNumb because it released a promo video on ESF-World (this map, in a basic form, included), then curled up and died.

Well, I've been modifying this map for playability, and adding terrain. As far as an XY topdown view goes, the map isn't huge. However, it allows for some sky-high battles. I'm optimizing it right now, because of that. The r_speeds get a little higher than I'd like if you're way up top viewing the whole map at once.

When I made this map, I used it as a big learning experience, and experimented with more things than I usually do. Almost all of the textures are handmade by myself (sans some rock and tree textures, those thanks to Battlegrounds, and the water texture, thanks to the CS organic pack) and a few of the objects in the map are low-poly map models, which I made as well.

The design is mostly final, but the r_speed aren't. I'll still change a few things if need be, though.

i like the tree models.
the waterfall in that corner seems a bit off though

It looks great! Accurate and it looks like it would be fun to play. The only thing that puts me off is the framerate, do you have a lot of breakables in that map?

I think the clouds you made are too close to the ground, especially since there are only a few of them. Including they stand out of everything instead of blending in. You should make a cliff or something to attach the water fall to since it looks odd that it is by itself.

The clouds I want to be like that. I want this map to have some good skybattles in it, so you can walk on the clouds. Some are low so you can jump up to them from the ground.

I do agree with you on the waterfall rock formation though, I didn't notice anything amiss with it until DJ mentioned it. I'll work on making that look better now.

No breakables, just a PCI video card. <_<

I trimmed the r_speeds down a considerable bit by scaling up textures, so I should have enough room to work with to fix the waterfall area. Updates soon.

Try raising the terrain around the corners of the map. It helps create an 'in-game' feel. That waterfall is coming out of the sky; that is what seems so strange about it. An alternative is to move the waterfall forward adding a mountain/island behind it.

I messed around a bunch with the waterfall. I've got it to the point where I like it, now. It looked weird because it was just a cheap cave, so I made it a little open pool.

I make some heavy optimizations (BSPViewer is handy!) and I was able to lower wpoly considerably, especially around the water area.

I uploaded the package to ESF-World, but I don't know how fast they are with these things. Their uploader says atleast 48 hours, so in the meantime, (see post below). Every file you need (textures are compiled into the map) should be included in the .zip archive (unless I'm an idiot and forgot something, but I don't think I did).

Oh, and try finding my special easter egg. Some of you should enjoy it. =)

I already have it on mine dedicated server running for another 85 minutes ^^

*dunno your easteregg -_- i was up there but didnt see anything , iquess i have to look closer* :p

That's a hell of a lot of humples....

My only suggestion, maybe it's for the lag I dunno, but I don't like not being able to see the ground when im so high up. Hard to see where you are.

But all in all, it's a nice solid map. Awesome job. ^^

Drat, I knew there was something I had written down, but I can't find my notepad on this messy desk. XD

The only thing I dont like about the map are the clouds. You should be able to go through them like real clouds. It kinda sucks to have to avoid all the clouds when firing a beam or whatever.
I like the map otherwise.

But yeah, it is a little odd to have blast marks appear on teh clouds and to stand on them. ^^ But it's kind of nice, you could throw people into them instead of having to throw them all the way to the ground.

I don't know if it's possible, probably not, but it would be neat if the clouds moved around a little :3
