Nope, Half-Life 1. However, you do also need Steam (http://www.steampowered.com/) if you want to play online.

No, has to be the full version of Half-Life. On the other hand if you have a copy of the original Day of Defeat or Counter-Strike (not CS:Z or the Counter-Strike you get with it) steam will allow you to download a copy of Half-Life

If you have Day of Defeat or Counter-Strike installed, you can download Half-Life for free. That's the way I understand it.

Ok let me spell it out for you.

You will have to pay for something.

Once you obtain a copy of either Half-Life 1, Counter-Strike, or Day of Defeat, by BUYING one, you can install and play ESF.
