in my opinion we don't need it, think about those who have around 20-30 fps and want to go to a game fast, it would take them forever EVEN if u could skip it..

If Somebody really wants this thing so badly to esf, i'm sure that community will make one..
No it wouldn't, if they could skip it. Plus, an intro will have jack **** to do with their fps performance unless such a intro was a demo. I'm sure with a bit of coding you could create a avi or mpeg to play at the start.

I personally for one don't see the need for it. A tutorial video would be good however, with a option to view it from the splash screen menu.

Actually I find it nice, eye candy never hurts only IF someone is willing to do this with his skills cause it's not easy to get something like that done.

Y'all are forgetting about Joe's new FX system, it'll be pretty easy to make an intro sequence for 1.3, I've been thinkin about it for a while
I've been thinking about that new FX system for a long time now too heh but I think the intro they were thinking about is something more flashy and less ingame-like if you know what I mean.
Something that could be animated in max with the ESF models and maps and some awesome camera effects...

But again thats not something that is easy to achive so I think that the FX System is as close as you can get to make a cool opening video.

The ESF team might come up with something cause that Trunks/Krillin/Frieza test video was tight and like you said David, full length + music and stuff = real spiffy video

Like I said, I could do it...I could cell-shade it, add killer effects. Only thing would be the rig. I'd prefer rigs done with a biped. When an esf model file is opened in Max with it's rig, the rig is always messed up and the bones are nothing more than bones that look like spheres, I can't even tell which one does what without checking the name and clicking at random. Main reason I don't touch ESF animation files. You have to do them in MS3D for them to work properly, and for me, working in MS3D is a b****. But again, we're talking Max and video.

If someone can rig the models properly, I'll do it myself.

If you can explain to me how the community would be able to partake in a contest in which they have no access to the 1.3 materials.... o_O

how much would you spend? lol xD
Maybe half a thousand. But I'm practically kidding, unless you'd be allowed to make those kinds of decisions for the team.

Err .. yeah, I am ^^

lol now seriously, alot of us team members will mess around with the fx script system anyway so there might be a short movie anyway

Yet Im still certain the intro video feature isnt supported by steam anymore.
take the specialists i.e. they have an intro video on the old WON version but nothing on the (same setup!) steam version

But it's possible to code something out right? =P

Something like what Overlord said, could be sweet if each of the team memebers and the beta testers will make a short movie of thier choosing with the FX System and when it's all done just edit them all and make an awesome intro, with cool music, it can come out just right.

I've been around for what, 3 years? People here and there have taken notice to some of my voicing abilities--they say I imitate Piccolo well, and often Vegeta. I have a friend who does an average imitation of Schemmel's Goku rendition (entire series). I'm always around and if you ever need a voice that can be used for acting. Let me know.

My Piccolo style is very flexible; Namek style, Android/Cell style, Majin Buu style. I think 5 years practice has paid off. Frieza saga style Vegeta's easy, you just need to be able to pull off a lot of the higher pitch stuff--Android/Cell saga is a bit of a struggle, and Majin Buu's fairly deep, which is easier for me.

Since this topic's already going, and this fairly relevant, I'll post my finished products (which are below average, high are difficult--holding one style while doing all forms of speech is tough - I can be a perfectionist);
Vegeta, Goku (friend)
Piccolo (Majin Buu style)
Vegeta, Trunks (Android Saga)
I'm still intensely improving my styles, and some are a lot harder than others. Anyway, I'm open for small stuff if you need any, no matter how small it is.

Um? Yo? I'm in the Force Pit dude, I'm probably qualified enough to do it...willing to help, free of charge, no questions asked. Offer still standing...just need models...

@Revitalized Prince: Good God man! That's the best Vegeta and Goku I've ever heard! I can't believe how awesome that sounded! A decent Sean Schemmel imitator is Hell to find. If only you were around DBZHOOD when they were holding voice actor auditions!

Dude, if I could request, could you try a Super Saiyan 3 yell? I could supply the background music and sfx!

I wish more people were enthusiastic about this, man. Oh well. Anyway, J-Dude, I'm on the DBZHOOD team. o_o I'll ask (Sinner) about the SS3.

Those clips were pretty good, the only part your voice seemed to lack was when Goku and Vegeta were powering up. I agree with SV on your piccolo voice, was pretty good.

An intro would be a very nice feature.
it would rise the player-count in ESF alot.
And if ESF has alot players -->more will come and play it, because of the fan-support and because it?s much more fun if many people are playing a game you like.
It?s a fact that the first sight is the most important one ;).
I just hope it?s possible with steam

Well there will almost certainly be a minor bugfix released after. I was thinking maybe then.

I belive the intro feature got removed when everything switched to steam.
ok enough dreaming about cool cinematic intros and community competitions.
Be usefull and do some research first.

I took a look at the valve developer wiki but I couldnt find anything about that matter. Somebody else has probably more luck.

ur piccolo voice was pretty good lol, thats the only one that sounded the same as the show to me.

An intro would be pretty nice, but usually thats done down the road when the game is completed.
