Hello, just wondering how active the european esf community is these days? I havent played in about 15 months now, and i'm curious to hear if it's alive or if it's dead. Obviously because i might try to play it again, but if there aint any pros playing i'm not going to.

Soo gogogo respond to my thread!! :)

I've been playing since 2003, but it's been a very long time since I actually sat down and played it again. 1.3 beta was too buggy for me when I first tried it (long ago), and 1.2 I've lost interest in ages ago. Maybe once 1.3 final is released I'll give it a whirl again. =)

I play occasionally, but now I haven't played in about a month, maybe even more. I'll come back to it again, then leave it again etc.

The game is definitely past its prime, there's no denying that. But you can still find good people to play with (LegendarY and Sub for instance).

Call of a Duty 4, Supreme Commander, Crysis, C&C, Sin of a Solar Empire, and a Wii and Ps3.

Esf is an oldie but a Goldie. I havent played in well over a year. But when Im finished upgrading to my new quad core ill join in on a few games, and hopefully see a few old friends.

Ive played ESF since 1.1 and have loved it immensely. Without ESF I probably would never have become as keen on modelling, texturing, spritemaking, audio and modding media in general. ESF has helped me learn so much in game dev as an artist and designer. I owe a massive thankyou to the ESF team for inspiring me to learn more. Anyway i digress...

I live in Australia and ESF is pretty much non existent. Anybody who knows of it has pretty much lost interest in HL era games, which saddens me greatly. ESF was a shining example of pushing an engine to its limits.

Since Australia has had the internet capabilities of the Dark Ages for most of this time, Ive played offline since back in 'Nam. Now that Australias netspeeds are, by comparison, better than papercups on strings, I find myself with an overwhelming urge to battle the world.

But alas there are never any active Australian servers, I only ever seem to find servers with bots dueling each other or just maps with unplayable pings.

People can only wait for a [full] ESF1.3 for so long and many i suppose have lost patience. Still, the online community has HP remaining, and ECXrc2 is very impressive. Sometimes i think the ESF team should just make the swoop/dash/stamina changes to that and be done with it lol

ECX has no stamina. And most of its swoop system is teh same as ESF 1.2

I know that -_-

i was saying if you add those elements (as well as all the various bugfixes) from 1.3 into ECX, then you have the ESF many were chasing. Im not saying it can/will happen, im just saying when i first played ecx, i found myself saying "wow its almost what 1.3 should be but with everything already done"

Actually ECX has quite a few problems on its own.

Simple melee is an instakill move on SSJ or abbove. You can catch up wit allmost no need to even teleport.

Telesense is way to spamable and same goes for hyper mode.

Well ive been keeping an eye on the serverrs lately, and it seems like the mod is totally dead. There's hardly any servers left, and most of them are empty. :( What a shame...

I have no servers in my country at all.
The lowest ping server i can play in is at like 300, and thats Subs eastcoast server. If i didnt have this obstacle Id be playing far more often.
Maybe wheres_warren and I should set up a dedicated Aus server when 1.3 is more substantial.

When 1.3 comes out someone is bound to set up a dedicated server in australia. There was one in 1.1 and there was one set up for 1.2 for quite some time.

ESF is according to the Steam stats, the most populair mod around on steam. It tops every other game. But I think it combines the stats of people playing 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3. So it still is quite active.

I'm calling bull**** on those stats. Unless it's counting lan servers and those "I just want to advertise my service" servers, there's no way there are that many.
