Overlay methods only do so much, but they can look really great. I would like to see something like this implemented if performance doesnt falter significantly.

esf_cell_games


textures are -x20 its size and tiled,you can go even further but you must do special maps

I never thought that texture detail in HL can go that far. The texture detail on the ring looks outstanding but the original texture is how the ring looked in the anime as well. Just give it some fake bump mapping on the dark lines between the plates and it will look just as good. ;)

the hd textures look good,but why the textures are over the old? i see the old lines.
make a one map for 1.2.3 with all hd it could be good.

The texture details are a picture that becomes transparent when it goes over the original one to make the old one look more sharp and hi-res. But Kunio made them look much better then texture detail was meant to make it look :)

You should check out Zeq 2 if you want cartoony graphics, it's a pretty cool project
