Okay heres what happened. I was doing something and all of a sudden, I sneezed really hard, my nose hurts like hell but not only my snot covered my computer monitor, blood happened to be on my monitor, speakers and all over my desktop including all my Bleach mangas. =(

I tried to clean the monitor with Windex but it kept the yellow streak, and I tried Windex Vinegar and it didn't work. I really don't want to replace the LCD screen just because I got blood all over it and I was wondering what cleaning "formulas" do you guys use? I swear to god it's not funny.

lol. LCD monitors dont clean too well, or so ive heard. they absorb grease and stuff from your hands and leave smudges and id imagine that anything else would do the same to it. so i dont know if you can clean it.:(

Eh your only supposed to clean an LCD monitor with a damp cloth, Just keep rubbing it gently, Eventually it may come off, Otherwise, Get a bit of metho on a cloth, put some water on there as well to dilute it a little bit and try to wipe it down.
Thanks for the reminder on how filthy and dust covered my LCD monitor on my laptop is >.> I always wonder how the hell food gets on it. Apply a little bit a pressure enough for a bit of scrubbing but not to hard to screw the display.

And I doubt they 'Absorb grease and stuff from your hands' Its a plastic cover over the actual display and from what I can tell Plastic doesn't absorb all that well.

Protip: Cover your mouth while coughing, sneezing, even when no one is around.

Seriously.. spit and other things coming from coughs and sneezes can goo up your monitor and make it look bad.

Why replace it with another LCD? Get a CRT instead. The picture on a CRT looks better anyway.

sauce plox. LCDs look far better than CRTs now-a-days. They've come a long way from the crappy ghosting, blurry laptops of the 90s. Not to mention, my CRT was always much, much more dirty than my current LCD is. I never have problems with crud on my LCD.. but it was always a huge problem when I owned CRTs.

LCD's have allot of advantages over CRT, They consume less power, They save on desk space, To me, the picture looks more vibrant, But CRT has the response time, And looks 'Sharper' to me, When I was doing painting as a work, My back window was literally covered in paint on my car, I used a metal scrubbing brush, and some paint thinner, (diluted), and gently scrubbed it, But I'm not sure how that would go on plastic...

He's asking how to clean it, I doubt Lith would buy a whole new monitor because his LCD got a little dirty.

I use damp tissue paper lightly scrubbing in small circles. Takes a while but gets the job done. Persistance is key, don't use any cleaning products if they're not strictly for the purpose of cleaning LCD's, you don't want to make it worse.

Failing that, your local PC retailer will probably sell specialised cleaning kits for just such an occassion.

So, I tried tooth paste. It smugged the screen a little but I was able to get it off gently with Windex before it dried and I don't think I can see the yellow now, I was getting worried that my blood was *****ded into my LCD monitor heh. Thanks guys for trying =P

Man, that's freaky. Next time you're in your chair and about to sneeze, just jump away from the monitor, or at least turn around. Just covering your mouth doesn't guarantee that some blood won't get on the screen, depending on how strong you sneezed. But man, sneezing up that much blood, I'd first get freaked on how that blood got in my nose in the first place.

You are never suppose to use windex on lcd screens. If it contains ammonia it could permanetly discolour your screen and there is nothing you can do to fix it. Windex is great for CRT screens because it is just glass. Windex can leave a rainbow effect all over an lcd screen and it is possible if you use enough that it can dry out and cause the plastic of the screen to crack. always use a damn cloth with slow cirular motions to clean them.

Uhm, he never posted saying this was an april fools joke... Therefore, we have every reason to believe that it isn't one.

And here in the US, april fools lasts all day long (as far as I know).

Eh? well people shouldn't post crazy stuff on 1st April and still expect it to be taken seriously...
I still think it was an April fools though... I don't even believe the TV news on 1st April (not that I do anyway half-the-time! :D)

April fools ends at mid-day in the UK... but a lot of people forget that here anyway.
The first few posts could be before mid-day anyway in places like the US.
I guess to be safe; on the Internet you have to just count everything from 31st March to 2nd April as april fool jokes! :]
